Description
Set up in 1981 as Pitfield Brewery operating from 8 Pitfield Street, N1 before moving to 4 Hoxton Square, N1 in 1986. Briefly relocated to Stourbridge following a merger with Premier Midland Ales, becoming Pitfield's Premier Brewing Co in 1990 but in 1991 the company went into liquidation.

Revived in 1996 as Pitfield's Brewery at 14 Pitfield Street, N1 before relocating outside of London to Great Horkesley, Essex in 2006 and then to Moreton, Ongar in 2007.

Martin, Pitfield's brewer/owner retired in 2012 to run a pub in Newmarket. Andy Skene bought the business and continued to brew Pitfield's beers alongside his own Dominion beers. This ceased in 2018.

Appearance: Chestnut brown, some red. Clear. Enormous amounts of creamy, off-white head. Aroma: Malt, hops, metallic. Some fruit. Taste: Malt, bitterness. Some fruit, lemon? Standard - slightly disappointed. Info: 500ml bottle, 25/8-2011

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is light moderate malty, toasted - caramel, moderate to light heavy soapy, ginger.Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, malty, ginger, citrus, soapy. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110801]

Bottle @ Chris O’s. Thanks guys. Pours cloudy golden with a small creamy white head. Ginger, spices and grain. A bit of fruity orange. Medium to thin body. One dimensional. Clean.

Bottled. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is ginger, some malts and mild alcohol meeting some slight fruity and floral notes. Flavour is ginger, fruits and some mild floral and malty notes. Pleasantly balanced.

Bottled (2007)@The Chriso Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011 "Donkey Dork Lord Edition". Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, caramel, earth and some slight yeasty and mild wooden notes. Flavour is quite much the same. Rather mellow. Hayish in the finish. Mild alcohol sweetness lurking as well.

Bottle (2007) at ChrisO’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011. Clear gold pour, flat head. Boozy nose, some caramel and bits of sweet malt. Very sweet flavor,some ripe fruits. Medium bodied with flat carbonation. Mild warming finish, slight dark sugar and ripe fruits. Decent.

2007 Bottle at Chriso’s. Orange a,ber color, no head. Aroma of apricot, sherry, stewed peaches. Flavors of peach, sherry, alcohol. Great oily, slick, full body. Great stuff.
