Description
We are an independent craft producer of cask and bottle-conditioned beers. Brewing behind the legendary & historic pub, The Talbot at Knightwick in Worcestershire.

The brewery was first opened in 1997 by the Clift family. Annie and Wiz Clift ran The Talbot at Knightwick, Worcestershire while their brother Philip ran the family farm at Lulsley Court nearby. The Clifts had been growing hops since the 19th century and a logical progression of the farm and pub businesses was to brew beer from their own hops to sell in their own pub. In August 1997 the brewery equipment was installed behind the pub and in September 1997 Chris Gooch joined as brewer.

500ml bottle from the Co-Op. Poured a clear chestnut brown colour, with a short-lived frothy white head. The aroma is malt, nutty, caramel, woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, rich, sweet caramel, earthy, light floral, hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A great example of the style.

500ml bottle. Poured a clear medium amber colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is nutty malt, light caramel, woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet with a smooth, malty, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A really solid English bitter. Served a little too cold initially, but the flavours came flooding through when it warmed.

500ml bottle. Poured a clear golden colour with a short-lived frothy white head and a few bubbles. The aroma is malt, woody, fresh green hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a fresh, smooth, malty, nutty, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. More like a blonde ale than a traditional English bitter.

500ml bottle bought at Tanners Wine in Hereford. Shared with Finn. Pours a close-to-clear orange body under a filmy layer, lacing rings down the glass. Mid-sweet malt-fruity flavours, scent of chocolate. Quite similar taste of choco-caramel and leafy hops. Nice bittersweet tail. Pretty good. (Hotel room, Birmingham 02.02.2020).

Half-pint, cask shared with Finn at Cardinals Hat. Clear amber-gold body, covering white head, spotty lacing. Bread-like malts on the nose, hints of herbal hops. Rather dry taste profile of herbal hops and earth malts. Has got a satisfying bitter end. Well made for the low abv. (Worcester 31.01.2020).
