Teme Valley Brewery
Microbrewery
in Knightwick,
Worcestershire,
England 🏴
Associated Venue: Talbot Hotel (Teme Valley)
Established in 1997
The brewery was first opened in 1997 by the Clift family. Annie and Wiz Clift ran The Talbot at Knightwick, Worcestershire while their brother Philip ran the family farm at Lulsley Court nearby. The Clifts had been growing hops since the 19th century and a logical progression of the farm and pub businesses was to brew beer from their own hops to sell in their own pub. In August 1997 the brewery equipment was installed behind the pub and in September 1997 Chris Gooch joined as brewer.

Red brown color, hazy. Frothy head. Raspberry aroma with yeast. A yeasty vegetable-like bitterness overpowers all other flavors. Just a hint of fruit shining trough. Yeasty bitter aftertaste, not very pleasant. Not a drain pour, but all n all a disappointing beer.

Ruby brown color, no head, hazy. Red berries and caramel in the aroma. Coffee flavor (Weiener melange) with bitter chocolate and red berries. Thinnish. Bitter nuts in the aftertaste. Not everyman’s friend, this beer, and I’m not totally convinced about the quality of this beer. Re-rate feb 13, 2007. Bottle. Nothing much too add. Maroons in the aftertaste. Nuts and caramel in the flavor. My original rating still stands.

Bottle from Checketts, Omberlsey. A light, easy drinking ale with a slightly chemically bitterness at the end. Nice ändå.

Level 6 Bottleshare. Thanks to LKS for this 2008 vintage. Clear amber beer, small pale tan head. Light and smooth palate, semi dry, still has reasonable fine carbonation. Tangy tired caramel malts. Tangy ripe citrus. Smooth finish. Clearly very aged but inoffensive and quite drinkable!

Bottle shared in London - picked up at some CAMRA fest. Vintage 2008. Pours clear brownish gold with a creamy tan head. Not horrible, but not great. Has some well toasted brown bread, earth, ash, burnt grass. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Bitter finish. A small pour was sufficient.
