Handpulled half pint at The Cayo Arms, Cardiff. Dark mahogany body. Low level foam with some laceworks. Aroma of sweet berries. Flavour is a mix of malty sweetness and dark fruits. Vague bitter end. Rather anonymous for a premium bitter (02.02.2007).

Cask handpull at Folkestone Wetherspoon’s. Hazy copper colour, with lasting fluffy beige head. Yeast and butter on aroma, some light citrus fruits. Light in mouth. More buttery/caramel in mouth. Bit of muddy, earthy hop finish. Light citrus notes on finish. It wasn’t blond and it didn’t make me smile.

Cask conditioned - Went to have this in a the Queens Head, Sedgeborough, Worcs yesterday but it ran dry as soon as they started serving it. Tried it in a pub in Prestbury, Glos today. Red amber colour, bit cloying malty aroma fairly inconspicous franky a bit dissapointed.

Cask handpull at Pillars of Hercules, London Xmas Pub Crawl. Well it has come out of retirement thanks to Highgate. Red/chestnut colour with thin beige head. Tarry fruit with good malts. Fruit is a little sour in the mouth with dark cherries. Again, I quite like this, bit of liquorice hiding in that sourness somewhere too.

Gravity cask at Lobster Pot, West Malling Pale gold, no head. Some citrus/acid/peach/hop going on. Quite sharp with a bit of hap but basically I didn’t like this very much.

Cask at County Hotel (JDW) Ashford. Amber in colour, some perfumed hops on nose. Acidic in mouth and on end. Bit ordinary until you get a smack of tangy hops on the end.
