Hidden away behind the Black Bull in Coniston is the
Coniston Brewing Company.

This outstanding brewery, run by Ian Bradley, is where Bluebird Bitter is made. This 3.6% session beer won Supreme Champion Beer of Britain 1998 at the Great British Beer Festival Olympia London and has continued to be awarded accolades of recent years.

To the pure waters of the Coniston hills - add the finest Challenger hops and wonderfully roasted pale and crystal malts.
Allow the Coniston Brewing Company to use all their skill and instinctive know-how to create what must be described as the finest fully matured cask conditioned Ales.

Bottle from ASDA, Keighley. Amber with not much of a head. Fruit hopped with a fair amount of citrus orange in aroma and taste.

Bottle, 500 ml from Coppers 8 till 8, Newcastle. Shared with JFK10000. Golden with white head. Citrus hoppy aroma. Citrus fruity flavor with nice malty base. Moderate bitterness and dry finish.

At a great tasting in Vranovo-Serbia, with markoijelena and cika Boban. Bottle. Pours golden-orange color, little white head with retention. Nose: dusty, pub, malts. Mouth: very light bitter overall start, elegant feel, water as well and easy drinking. A bit too thin but nice enough.

Cask at the York. Pours clear gold, thin short-lived white head. Aromas of biscuit, oats, light floral notes. Taste is more of the same. Clean finish.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear golden, thin short-lived white head. Aromas of citrus and minerals. Taste is light sweet, cooked oranges, sugar. Thin finish.

Bottle from Asda, Keighley. Golden-orange with a small head and some carbonation. Has a bitterness but it is its English hop fruitiness that provides the dominant character, albeit a mild one.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2013, Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX. [ As Coniston Olivers Light Ale ].Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, fruity, pale malt, caramel, light hoppy, grass. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, grass, fruity, citrus, malty. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130814]

Bottled. Golden colour, small white head, which lasts for quite a good while. Aroma is citrus, some parfume, mild wood and some herbs as well. Flavour is smooth fruity and floral notes along with some earthy and dusty notes.
