Description
The Dortmunder Union Brewery (DUB) was established in 1873, the first brewmaster was Fritz Brinkhoff (1848-1927), who worked 50 years for the brewery. In 1887, a failed brew was delivered to a customer in Aachen which was a huge success. The Dortmunder Export was born.

In 1994, the Union Brewery took over the Dortmund Ritter Brewery, established in 1889, and renamed itself the Dortmund Union Ritter Brewery. Production was relocated from the city center to the previous production facility of the Ritter brewery on the outskirts in Lütgendortmund. In 2002 the Union-Ritter-Brauerei was renamed the Brinkhoff Brewery, and in 2006 production was relocated to the Dortmunder Actien-Brauerei.

0.33 l bottle, best before December 2025. Clear, golden with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish-malty, a little floral aroma of grains, some straw and light corn flakes. Medium sweet, moderately bitter, slightly dry taste of grains, some straw and light corn flakes, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly dry finish. Thin to medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay!

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Fairly bitter and dry with grassy and herbal hop, cereal grain. Light metallic notes. Modest light to medium body. Not bad, crisp, bit watery and would have liked more grain to balance out the bittering hop.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Clear gold with small white top, modest retention. Aroma of grains, biscuit, hint of lemon, grass. Taste follows - crisp, clean , light, good bitter bite. Watery to light bodied, refreshing, crisp but not excessive carbonation. Its got all the aspects for a solid pilsener but its quite light bodied. As its approaching summer I would love several of these in the fridge for a BBQ. Its that sort of lager but far tastier than most.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Clear light gold, small white top. Aroma of cereals, lemon, straw. Taste has a bready and biscuit malt with a lemon and grassy hop. Very crisp, plenty of burps with the carbonation. Nice bitterness in finish. Slick, light to mid bodied. A well put together lager, a bit underrated.
