Description
Set up in 2001 as a bit of a hobby for local teacher Mark Praeger, Ales of Scilly was taken over by Jen Trevithick in 2017 and continues to supply the islands and the mainland with quality craft ales.

The ales can be found at various freehouses, cafes and restaurants across the 5 inhabited isles and is bottled on site to make it available in shops and online so you can take a taste of Scilly home with you.

Mark continues to assist with brewing when needed and is looking forward to watching it grow. Jen has lots of plans for the brewery and is looking at expanding the range in the near future so watch this space!

Monday 30th Sep 2019; Shrewsbury Monthly Share in Chez Sophie. 500ml bottle brought back from The Scilly Isles to split with friends. Deep amber body, wispy off-white head. Malty, but watery and more like a malty Bitter than a Porter. Hoped this would be better to be honest.

500ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Sep 19, thanks Jeremy for bringing this back from your voyage through the British Isles. Pours dark mahogany brown, off-white foam. Aroma is malt-forward. Taste is tired ropey malt, thin and watery, amber bitter territory.. bit homebrewey, needs more dark malt to warrant the porter tag.

500ml bottle, bought on the Isles of Silly and brought home to sink. Poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard on 16th Sep 2019. Clear golden body, white head that soon turned to a wisp and collar. Pale malts and floral hops in the aroma, orchard fruits with the malts in the taste. It's a bit watery and has a weird metallic feel as you work towards the bitter finish.
