Handpull cask at the Belvoir Alehouse, Old Dalby. Dark brown, only slightly translucent with a khaki-coloured head. Light chocolate and coffee aromas. Sweet taste with gentle roast malt. Finish is more bitter with a metallic finish. Thinner body than many session-strength stouts, but there's some soft natural carbonation that excites the palate. Decent.

Handpull cask from the Belvoir Alehouse. Light chestnut brown with a hint of red. Thin creamy head on top. Lots of lacing. Faint but enticing aroma with woody, nutty and medicinal overtones. Tastes bittersweet, with some interesting flavours in the sip: some sweet doughy flavours interspersed with a nutty bite, with some Maraschino cherry. Followed by a strong refreshing bitterness in the finish. Decent bitter.

Handpull cask at the Belvoir Alehouse. Light gold and crystal clear with a thin white head and a good bit of creamy lacing. Grassy and grainy aroma with suggestion of lemon balm. Tastes bittersweet, with a long metallic and astringent hoppy finish. TCP in the aftertaste. Maybe a little bit harsh for my taste. It's nice to have it in exemplary condition.

Cask at GBBF Day 1. It pours deep brown with a bubbly beige head. The aroma is very sweet, coconut, bounty bar, sugar and milk chocolate. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, toasty, cacao nibs, ash, charred wood, leather, candy and toasted coconut. The finish is drying and woody. Medium body and soft carbonation. Pretty good fun, although the taste doesn’t quite live up to the aroma.

Cask at the Ale Wagon, Leicester. Purplish brown, translucent. A small ring of tan head. Chocolate malt aroma with gravy granules. Bittersweet taste reminiscent of sweat and slightly off meat. Sweaty finish with some grape in the aftertaste. Watery body. No thanks.
