Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 9/21/12
Aroma: The aroma has bittersweet chocolate, roasted barley, some coffee, and hoppy notes
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a thick, pillowy, light brown head and heavy lacing
Flavor: The taste is bittersweet chocolate and coffee, with a fairly heavy hop presence for this style
Palate: The body is medium-full, though it feels slightly watery, and it end with a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty solid, leaning hoppy, Porter. It may not have been exactly on style, but this was a nice beer that I enjoyed drinking.

Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 5
Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 9/20/12
Aroma: The nose is heavy on dark fruit/raisin, some toasted malts, and a little earthy hops
Appearance: A mostly clear reddish-orange color with a an inch of off-white head and sticky, heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is caramel malts, some bread, a little fruit, and some (unintentionally?) tart/sour yeast
Palate: The body is medium, it has an average-to-lively carbonation, and a mildly astringent finish
Overall Impression: I don't what they were shooting for here, but it didn't really work for me. This beer is not terrible, but, for me, it just felt like a miss all the way around.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 9/20/12, Rating # 2424, the double Jack Bauer!
Aroma: The nose has slightly bitter roasted coffee, chocolate, light smoke, and floral notes
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a medium brown head and medium lace
Flavor: Tastes balanced between the malty and bitter flavors (headlined by bitter coffee), also mildly tart
Palate: It is medium bodied, fairly smooth, has soft-to-average carbonation, and a lightly tart/dry finish
Overall Impression: First off, the "Double Jack Bauer" would be a pretty good name for a beer. As for this beer, it is a pretty good beer. Honestly, I don't have a ton to say, but nice job by McNeill's with this one.

Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Hazy amber, small head. Piney tangerine aroma. Sweetish with light body and clean, spritzy mouthfeel. Crystal malt and pine needles. Diluted orangy hops, some resiny bitterness. Shallow malt character, odd hops.

Barcade, NY tap ($6): Pours a murky brown with a tan head. Aroma is sugar, dark fruits, and loads of malt and stuff. Beer is really sweet, possibly too sweet. Loads of malts and stuff. Body is thick and heavy, but still drinkable enough I suppose. Some complexity. This ain’t my favourite.

Tap at the Ginger Man, Manhattan - 29/05/12. Amber coloured with smallish off-white head. Sweet caramel malt on the nose and some citrus hops. Taste follows nose, sweetish IIPA, pine undertones. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, slightly sticky finished, well disguised alcohol.

Bottle: Poured a slightly hazy blonde color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of semi-sweet cereal notes with light hoppy and floral notes. Taste is a mix between some semi-sweet clean cereal malt backbone with some light floral and hoppy notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable though nothing to write home about either.

Tap at the stags head. Pours copper with slightly sweet nose. Tastes of molasses, nutty, grainy, and of resin. Watery on finish but pleasant enough
