Nice surprise today at the store 3 new bombers to try. Pours a cloudy, murky orange, amber color with a bubbly white head that dissipates quickly, but leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Smells of citrus hops and fruity yeast that has an almost Belgian flair to it. Caramel malt in there as well. Taste is caramel and citrus, lots of esters from the yeast and even some phenolics. Are we sure this isn’t a Belgian inspired brew? Medium body, ample carbonation, watery/syrupy mouthfeel. Not a bad brew but not what I was expecting.

Pours deep black into a shaker. Mocha micro head with excellent retention recedes leaving spider lacing to coat surface. Dark chocolate and espresso aromas. Thick with sweet chocolate and manure upfront turning to hot espresso in the lasting finish. Unfortunately I can’t get over the manure.

Location: Draft at Hop Devil, 2/18/11

Aroma: The nose has some pine hops, citrus hops, and some malty notes as well
Appearance: This one pours a hazy orange color with a frothy white head
Flavor: It has a smooth hop flavor with lots of citrus/pine, and some caramel malts for balance
Palate: It has a solid mouthfeel, a fairly low carbonation, and a medium body
Overall Impression: This beer has a very solid hop profile. I found this to be a really nice, perhaps even surprisingly nice beer. I was definitely glad to drink this one.

A deep dark stout with a thick brown head. In aroma, a smooth chocolate with light floral hops and alcohol. In mouth, a nice and clean sweet chocolate, maraschino cherries, quite nice. On tap at Boston Beer Summit, Jan. 15 2011.

22 oz bottle from my 2010 Winter Secret Santa. Best before last day of J(anuary) notched on label. Pour is a slight haze copper golden with a thick three inch off white head. Head holds for a long time. Aroma is dry straw, and a bit of resin. Touch of toasty malt present in the back. Taste is the dusty resin and straw, balanced decently with the toasted malt. The finish has a bit of dirtiness, along with a sharp mineral. Palate is medium to light bodied, light carbonation and the dirty finish. Nice, though was likely past the prime for the hops. Thanks Santa, great box!

Bottle shared by Sean, thanks! Poured a clear hazy amber with a brown hue and a gray head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a nice citrus presence with some hay, sweet grain and grass as well. Flavor started citrus and grass which mellowed into a malt finish consisting of grain and bread.

Bottle, 22oz, courtesy of MiP. A slightly hazy golden beer with a small, off-white to beige head. Meaty, caramel maltyness in the aroma, and lots of piney, citrus-peel likehops. Some alcohol too. Full-bodied, almost sticky mouthfeel, quite warming. The flavor has a lot of bitterness, it’s sweet, but not enough to combat the bitterness. Citrus peel and pine cones in large amount. Lasting bitter finish with pine-cones, citrus peel and alcohol. Overall, a bit sweet maybe, but really nice. 100814

Bomber pours amber in color with huge infected head. The aroma has mild notes of malt and crystal malt sweetness under a curtain of acidicness. The taste shows some promise as I can pick out some nice malty notes underneath the tart to sour infection. Seems like a good beer might be hiding in here somewhere.
