Nice red tint to a copper body. Light malty nose with some alcohol and toffee. Medium-bodied; Strong malt flavour with a good creamy finish. A bit of hops at the end, tucked in with golden syrup too. Overall, a nice beer and my first non stout in the whole of Ireland. I sampled this pint on draught at the MessRS Maguire Bewpub in Central Dublin on 19-February-2009.

Deep brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and some nuts. Medium-bodied; Creamy and roasty flavour with a nice bitterness at end. Aftertaste clean and sharp, but relatively nice. Overall, a nice break from Guinness, but the reminders of THE irish beer are still everywhere in this one! Definitely nice to try in Ireland. I sampled this pint on draught at the MessRS Maguire Brewpub in Central Dublin on 19-February-2009.

On tap at Porterhouse Covent Garden. Very dark brown colour near black with thin beige head. Its an ok malty briwn ale. Pretty much to modern brown ale stylrles so you have to like malty grainy brown malts to enjoy this. Touch if spice on the finish. Its fine if dullish. Its drinkable and slightly likeable especially the finish.

Cloudy light amber. The aroma is full of banana and little else. Sweetish banana with a light tartness. There’s just something missing.

Dark amber. Earthy with darker caramel notes. Bland, soft with light caramel. Pretty bland all round for a bock, especially having just come from Bavaria.

Draught at the pub. Black with a thin off white head. Aroma is sweet with chocolate notes. Flavour is slightly sweet with roast and chocolate, plently of malt in the background. Not as creamy as some Irish stouts
