Description
Founder of Dot Brew, Shane Kelly, has made a name for both himself and his brand over the last few years through a keen passion and love for experimentation when it comes to his brews, most notably in the form of barrel ageing and hybrid styles. The Dublin based brewer has carved out quite a niche, developing a unique style and approach which has helped put Dot Brew at the forefront of the Irish Craft Beer scene. While the beers are brewed in various microbreweries in and around Dublin, they are then brought home to Dolphin’s Barn. The site is home to about 50 barrels in a small warehouse which Kelly refers to as his ‘spice rack’, with casks ranging from French oak, Mexican tequila and American bourbon, to name but a few.

Underrated. True to style. Malt and yeast ester driven beer. The barrell adds a complementary goodness. Mikkeller ams

Can. Color: Hazy golden, white head. Aroma: Malty, grainy, Brett funk, subtle fruity grapes. Taste: Smooth, almost creamy. Notes of citrus fruit, lime, hints of grapes, notes of Brett funk. Malty base. Wheat malt. Medium body, quite dense (oats) for this style. Under average carbonation. Lighly tart, very light bitterness. Light vinuous hints of white wine. Dry-ish finish. Nice refreshing beer, a lot of taste for such a low alcoholic Table Beer.

Can. Color: Very dark ruby, almost black. Very thin beige head. Aroma: Dark malt, mocha, quite a lot of cherry, boozy notes. Taste: Starting dark malt, some roasted malt, coffee and mocha notes. After a second or two the boozy cherry Brandy come in and takes over. Finishing almost candy-like: Sweetish cherry gums with booze notes, ending dry-ish and bittery.. Over medium body, just below average carbonation. Well brewed, but just not my kind of beer.

Can. Appearance - hazy orange with a foamy cream head. Nose - big orange and pine straight up. Like cakey note lurking. Taste - orange, cake, just an edge of toffee or caramel. Palate - light bodied, initially zingy, dry finish which then turns a little sweet. Overall - fairly balanced, just slightly sweeter than preferred. Great nose!

Can. Color: Very dark ruby, going towards black, light brown head. Aroma: Sweetish PX Sherry, fruity grapes, dark and lightly roasted malt. Taste: Nicely balanced combination of sweetish and fruity PX Sherry and boozy Single Malt Whiskey is overwhelming the lightly roasted malt a little bit. That's ok for me, because I like the PX. Over moderate sweet, light to moderate bitterness. Over medium body, below average carbonation. Nice one.
