Canned, 440ml at charity tasting Wien 2022. Shared with Miro B, Werckmeister and others. Hazy orange with medium white head. Easy going pale ale, citrus, tropical, nice bitter finish. Dry. Medium bodied.

Ein Bierol kommt selten allein. Just als ich die letzte Bierol-Rezension fertig getippt hatte, finde ich dieses Bierchen im mehr oder weniger gut sortierten Fachhandel. Es ist ein schön spritziges Sommer-Ale, das aber ruhig den feinen Hopfen etwas aggressiver einsetzen könnte. So hat es tolle grasige Aromen, aber diese lösen sich schon sehr schnell auf.

Bei Bierol hat man den Schwenk von klassischer moderener IPA-Craftbierschmiede hin zu extra speziellen Bieren und damit eigener Nische ausgezeichnet hinbekommen. Dieses Bier ist eines der Aushängeschilder der Brauerei. Es ist ein sehr schweres, pechschwarzes, öliges Stout, das vor Aromen überläuft: Dunkle Schoko, Banane, Kokos, Rumtopf, Holz und noch viel mehr. Dabei ist es so trocken, dass ich ein Glas Wasser dazu brauchte. Man muss dem Aromenreigen lassen, dass er wirklich schön komponiert ist und das malzige wunderbar mit dem holzigen und beerigen harmoniert. Nur gerade den Kokosteil habe ich schon mal besser erlebt. Aber es ist auf jeden Fall ein interessantes, tiefgründiges Bier.

Bottle. Black color with off-white head. Aroma is chocolate, mild coffee, good oak, caramel, vanilla, but really more oak than the bourbon stuff. Taste is intense wood, chocolate, not much roast, but not too pastry-like either. Oily mouthfeel, fine-bubbled carbonation. Very tasty!

Can. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is nicely grassy, good hops, fresh. Taste is good grassy hops, light-bodied, but great balance. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Very nice and well-balanced, easy going.

Bottle. Brown color with purple highlight. Aroma is chocolate, dash of beetroot, not very peppery. Taste is chocolate, some more beetroot, on the edge of being too much (but I generally don't like beetroot very much). Oily mouthfeel, sparkly carbonation. Fun.
