Bottle thanks to a trade. Pours a cloudy gold with a brown hue and a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of spice with a bit of sweet grain and just a hint of pumpkin. Flavor has a combination of pumpkin spice, sweet grains and a bit pumpkin.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a clear hazy deep amber orange with a near white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a nice citrus and bitter grapefruit combination with a touch of grass. Flavor starts with sweeter citrus but quickly becomes bitter with grapefruit and bitter rind.

750ml bottle pours a clear, dark orange with a ring of white head. Nose of booze, spice, nail polish, clove, cinnamon. Flavor is sweet and boozy, cardamom, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, sweet caramelized root veg, booze. Rummy, sweet finish.

Draft at Rustico Alexandria. Poured a thin dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma was bourbon, vanilla, coffee notes. Lots of alcohol burn aromas, but none of the actual burn on this one. Flavor was pretty smooth alcohol notes, some bitter, dark chocolates. Vanilla, some woody notes. Pretty easy to drink, but the bourbon kind of overpowers the base beer a bit. I like the experiments that Hardywood releases, regardless.

Bottle (2014 Release) poured into a Belgian snifter. Pours a brownish black with almost a finger tan head. Aromas of bourbon, coconut, vanilla, coffee, roast, . Tasting notes of bourbon, berries, roast, dark chocolate, light coffee. Barrel aging seems to have faded the coffee. Great barrel character on the nose, not quite as equal on the taste. Medium body with a semi-dry finish, would like a fuller body. Think I actually prefer the non-barrel aged version.

Dark in the glass with a great and creamy head. The beer starts smooth, intense and highly drinkable. Absolutely great mix between smooth and not-too-sweet malty body with great ginger-spices. The alcohol is not tastable. The aftertaste is long, smooth, velvet. Caramel, fudge. Nicely bitter in the aftertaste.

Aroma: The nose is floral and spice/pepper, with some bready notes, citrus, and a little grass

Flavor: Tastes much the same, with the spice a bit more prevalent up-front, and a grassy finish
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a clean feel, soft carbonation, and a shorter duration
Overall Impression: Overall, I thought this was a pretty good saison, but not a stand-out in the style. Still, at such a low ABV it still packs plenty of flavor. Very drinkable and sessionable.
