Description

NOV-2018. BOTTLE. Clear deep amber, creamy beige head. Big caramel malts, fresh cereals and some dms-y malts, a hint of alcohol sharpness - certainly does not smell like an IPA, but un in a bad way. Same with the taste - big malty sweetness, with a good kick of warming alcohol, moderate bitterness but little actual hop flavor. Not a bad, if you expect a hard, barley wine-esque string IPA. 7-4-7-4-15=3,7.

SEP-2018. DRAFT at BCBF 2018. Cloudy amber, creamy ivory head. Smells like fresh malts, some green grass. The taste is big, malty, chewy, good hoppy and boozy spice. Not your regular ultra hoppy double (triple?) IPA, but a nice fresh strong pale ale. 6-4-7-4-14=3,5.

On tap at Fabrica de Bere Buna, pours a cloudy golden orange with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out very subdued floral hops and light biscuity malt. Flavour is very earthy, with bitter hops, crisp biscuity malt, and an astringently bitter finish. Bitter and monolithic, without much actual character. Not a great example of the style.

On tap at Fabrica de Bere Buna, pours a clear copper with a medium white head. Aroma brings out floral hops, a little citrus and some good old diacetyl. Flavour is along the same lines, with bitter citrus hops, heaps of butter, and light floral notes. Can't get past the butter - this needs serious fixing.

On tap at Fabrica de Bere Buna, pours a clear reddish amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out caramely bready malt upfront, with a hint of Belgian yeast. Flavour is vibrant, with Belgian yeast, caramely bready malt and some esters. Bright and robust - this works pretty well.

On tap at Fabrica de Bere Buna, pours a deep dark brown with a reddish tinge and a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, and a hint of bready caramel. Flavour is fruity, with estery banana notes, toasted caramel and bready notes. Unusual flavour given the purported style, but it works well enough. Decent.
