Description
Founded in 2002 as Glastonbury Ales. In 2018 the plant was sold to Parkway Brewery but Glastonbury continue to brew there. In 2019, they relocated and renamed.

We set to work back in 2006, bravely challenging the traditional values of the UK beer market. At the time, real ale was under-represented and largely unexciting. We brought unique and flavoursome ales to local pubs and shops. Working with local chefs, farmers and herbalists we expanded our horizons. Soon word spread. Before long, we were working evenings and weekends to meet demand.

In 2008 we took the leap and moved the brewery to a larger site. More space and better equipment enabled us to experiment and diversify. We continued to deliver a broad range of real ales, but expanded into the territory now known as craft beer โ€“ small batch, highly experimental brews that ignore the rules to focus on flavour.

Cask (Fitzgeralds, Sunderland) - Black in colour. Coffee, roasted malt and a hint of treacle in the aroma. Roasted taste with notes of coffee and chocolate dominating. Quite smooth and easy to drink.

Cask at Craft Islington. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, earth, dried fruits, cocoa and coffee. The taste is roasted malt, toast, earth, chocolate and milky coffee with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not exactly much depth, but a solid enough brew anyhow.

Cask at Craft Islington. It pours clear golden-amber with a small white head. The nose is pretty dull.....barnyard, manure, soft orange fruits.... The taste is orange, stewed fruits, marmalade, strong alcohol hit, wood and pepper with a dry, pretty flat finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Pretty dull and flat tasting. Alcohol is also a bit obvious. Not for me!

Craft Islington. Brucie Boys Birthday Bash. Cask. Lightly hazy gold beer, small white head. Palate is light and dry with fine carbonation. Smooth dry pale malt. Big peel bitterness, leaning toward marmalade. Light touches of lemon and floralness. Finishes dry. Moderately spicy hop linger. Not bad, just a touch dry.

From Cask @ Cask Pub & Kitchen as "Glastonbury Thriller Rare Cappuccino". It's really hard to call this anything else than black in the glass. It even has a small spotting beige filmy head. Smells really nice. Roasted with dark chocolate and cardboard-cold-coffee. Soft nitro like in the mouth. Nice flavors. Gentle chocolate and a little bit of dry licorice. I get cardboard on the taste also, but quite subdued. Really gliding and easy to drink/like. 09.11.2013

Cask at Craft Beer Co Islington, 07/02/14. Clear golden with a moderate off white head that retains as a covering. Nose is bitter orange, light cheese, tangy citric fruits, light earthy hop presence, grassy pangs. Taste comprises orange pith, chalky mineral bite, straw, lightly toasted malts, earthy hop background. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Ok APA, not a huge amount of hoppage but an easy drinker.

Cask at CBC Isloid during Bruces Birthday Bash, 07/02/14. Golden amber with a moderate beige swirl. Good lacing ensues. Nose is lightly hopped, caramel, ight pine, touch of tropical fruit, bitter orange. Taste carries a little more depth comprising caramel malts, orange pith, light boozey streak, tropical tang. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Drinkable stuff but nothing Iโ€™d rush back to, a little conservative on the hop front, akin to a US style semi-hopped up ESB.
