Well, it is a cheap doppelbock.... somebody just gave me one at a party and it was better than drinking Pabst... Pretty strong aroma, with the roasts and all. Dark brown color, forgot what the head was all about though. Flavour was definitely there, but it wasn’t complex. It was good, but simple. Some coffee, pretty roasty taste and does warm you up pretty well.

Steinhaus Jumping Cow Amber(they brew for Trader Joe’s) (MN)-12oz bottle-pours a fizzy white head and copper color. Aroma is musty, medium malt-caramel, corn? Taste is macro lagerish, medium malt-caramel, artificial sweetener, secondary flat (English) hops or am I giving them too much credit for the hops and its just cardboardy along with some sourness. Less than desirable aftertaste. OK carbonation. Firestone Walker does this.

Caramel malt and grapefruit aroma. Clear brown, thin off white head. Cherry, vanilla, and grapefruit taste. Great balance of sweetness, bitterness, and sourness. Piny finish.

Moderately strong and nicely balanced bouquet of hops and chocolate fudge. Dark mahogany color, medium tan head, no lacing. Not thick and has a strong charred oak and plum taste. Bitter grass finish, nice transition. Coffee becomes noticeable during warming. Pretty nice

Sampled at the Odds and Ends Tasting II on 10/19/07: Clear copper color with a medium off-white head that lasts a bit. Biscuity malt and caramel in the nose. Light, smooth body with sweet malt, caramel and grassy hops flavors. The finish is short and malty. Pretty bland and forgettable overall.

Faint grain and hop aroma. Deep amber color, thick yellow head. Extremely bitter grain taste. Unblended copper and alcohol finish. Way too bitter and metallic.

Undeniable molasses aroma with plum and pine notes. Black color, medium tan head. The taste is dark, but not strong, maybe charcoal and dough. Strong walnut and celery finish with an aged feel. Very unique and drinkable. Light tasting enough to go well with a salad. I want to rate this higher, but it lacks the strength to justify it.

Pours a clear brownish-red color with a medium thin off-white head that burns off quickly. Quick, spotty lacing. Light aroma of earthy malt and nuts with hops peeking through. Medium-bodied with a solid malt base that is toasty and nutty. Grain and hops flavors are present too. The finish is roasted malt and lingers for a bit. A step above the Killian’s’ of the world, albeit not a large one.

Aroma is mild citrus, with wheat, banana, and a touch of lemon. Flavor is refreshingly smooth and creamy, with a wonderful blend of wheat and banana. Finish was decent enough.

Bottle. Nice sweet roasted malts aroma. Flavor was pretty roasty but a bit more subdued than I expected (it could have been that I was drinking it too cold). Flavor includes chocolates, coffee, and cream. Slight bitter finish rounded this one off pretty well.
