Notes from January 2011 Six pack for six dollars. Just working my way down the list till I find something I really like. ...and the organic chicken at $5.99lb ain't it. Batch Number: 10:23 BH270 29810 Unbranded weizen glass & a box of crunch n munch(well, the TJ's brand anyway). Two bottles, because it would look just silly filled half way. Standard eggshell umbrella of foam that is a hefeweizen. The underbelly is muddy, & not quite orange or yellow. Streams of suds appear from time to time to reinforce the collapsing head. The smell I get is talcum powder, bananas, lemon/lime, & biscuity yeast. In that order. Decent so far. Taste is very doughy, cut in the middle by low-key savory/sweet banana & lemon essences. Finish is a bit of bitter clove & a long trail of yeast. Carbonation is strong, but the texture seems a bit pasty. Not totally refreshing, but gunky or anything. Alcohol is fine. Still tastes pretty well for a bargain brew. No toy at the bottom of the crunch n munch box either. What is this con game?! How does Trader Joe's stay in business?

Notes from 12/14/13. 11.2oz single from Trader Joe's. Bought a couple other little things as well, for it was not yet noon, & I still feel a bit of shame about these things occasionally. Ommegang Anniversary glass. Swishing, purdy, vibrant, gold body. White wash head. Smell is saline, plain Cheerios, solid peppery/herbal hops, & a bit of Euro stickiness. Taste is honey-ish & citrusy upfront, becoming more about sweet Ritz crackers & twiggy/earthy bitters as it goes. Dry, flinty, dusty grain finish. Plush, microbeaded carbonation & some good acidity to help break up the syrupy body. Still don't like blondes, but I just can't get angry when they cost me $1.34 a bottle.

Notes from Dec 15, 2013 $1.09 for a single from TJs. Damn inflation. BB: 3/15/14 Rounded pint glass. Crystal clear garnet/tea-ish body. Fluffy, light tan head. Smells of buttery caramel corn & charred bread. Sticky spilled beer & booze. Aspirin bitterness is the first & last thing you taste. Sweet-ish brown bread middle. Burnt nuts. Dry, pithy/popsicle stick finish. Starchy. Boozy. So-so carbonation. Cold. Cold is sometimes enough.

12 oz. can from Trader Joe's. A big pie spice nose under the tab. Not too bad. Pours a light gold color, slight fizziness. Taste: well, there's some cider to it. Wish there was something I could call pumpkin here. But mostly it can only be described as nutmeg soda. Needs more of anything that matches the many other pumkin bef=verages out there.

355ml can from a Trader Joe's and poured into a La Chouffe glass on 30th June 2024 while at my daughters in Laguna Hills. Bright, clean and clear golden body, good sized white crown. Grainy rather than malty, metallic twang with a floral twist. Cheap supermarket beer and it shows!

Bottleshare at Craft Beer Junction. Thanks to Leighton. A light haze on this gold beer, small white head. Airy and fairly dry palate, decent fine carbonation. Dry pale malts. Sweet enough. Floral spices, soft cinnamon and cardamon. Mild dried fruits. Dry finish. Dry but fun.

Bottle shared at CBJ - picked up from TJ’s in NYC. Pours lightly hazed orange-gold with a creamy, white head. Medium sweet flavour with sun-kissed biscuits, some light caramel and marmalade, touches of candi sugar and Belgian yeast. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Finishes with some ripe citrus, faint oxidation, sun-kissed sugars. Tasty.
