Hangar 24 began its craft brewing exploration with a true passion for good beer, the absolute love of flying and the pure enjoyment of being around great friends. My buddies and I used to meet at hangar No. 24 at the Redlands Municipal Airport, after an afternoon of flying, to trade stories, talk aviation, play music and share a few cold ones that were recently home brewed. These days, the location of where the beers are brewed has changed, but the quality time spent enjoying a delicious, handcrafted beer and conversation with friends is the same as ever. 22oz bomber pours with a dark amber body that supports a tall tan head. The aroma offers up red grapes, cherries, earthy molasses and then some mild brown sugar and malt notes. The taste starts with brown sugar dusted cherries and sweet red grapes. It gets earthy here and there as it approaches the finish. Nice.

12oz bottle pours with a clear deep rosy red sort of amber body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up malts, mineral notes, a dash of caramel malts, earthy malts to earthy hops and a bit of spicy hops. The taste is very Alt like but Americanized as it is a little overstated in its flavor as well as ABV but this works for me. I get malts, crystal malts, caramel malts, some earthy malts and then a pretty nice bite of spicy hops, a sliver of earthy hops and sort of vague like hop bitterness that adds to the depth and the balance of the beer. It ends with a mild taste of malts and hop bitterness that takes on a slight citrus nuance.

Got in a trade with swingracex. 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours hazy golden straw color with a 1 finger fairly dense white head with decent retention, that reduces to a ring of lace. Minimal lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon zest, pear, apple, white grape, banana, wheat, bread, clove, light pepper, bubblegum, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of pale malt and fruity/earthy yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon zest, pear, apple, white grape, banana, wheat, bread, clove, light pepper, bubblegum, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light amount of bready tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, pear, apple, white grape, banana, wheat, bread, clove, light pepper, bubblegum, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and robustness of fruity/earthy yeast and pale malt flavors; with crisp malt/yeast/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly bready/acidic mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice Belgian pale ale. Good balance and robustness of pale malt and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; and extremely smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Got in a trade with swingracex. 22 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but assumed 2014 bottling. Pours hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass; with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, pear, apple, light banana, clove, light pepper, light coriander, wheat, bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hops, fruity/earthy yeast, and pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, pear, apple, light banana, clove, light pepper, light coriander, wheat, bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light floral/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, pear, apple, light banana, clove, wheat, bread, light coriander, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, hops, and pale malt flavors; with great robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly bready/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice pale wheat ale. All around good balance, complexity, and robustness of hops, fruity/earthy yeast, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Rather cloudy light tan. Fairly hoppy aroma but it is a little bit dull. Lots of hop, again showing just a bit of fruit, and then some pale malts that are actually fairly thin, but none of this showcases either brightness or complexity.

Bottle thnx to Geoffrey . Pours rather clear blonde, small fast fading white foam . Smell is cider ( ? ) Good carbo Taste is apple, cider ( seriously, wtf ? ) and a bit of oak. Hints of bourbon . Very nice

22 ounce bottle poured into a nonic pint glass. Thanks to my friend Ed for sending this over! Pours a dark brownish color with two fingers of light tan head. Sparse lacing. Aromas of vanilla, milk chocolate, some roast. Tasting notes of dark fruit, milk chocolate, vanilla, roast, coffee. Medium body with a semi-dry and slightly bitter finish. Medium carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Nice porter.

16 oz: on tap in The Monkey Paw, San Diego on 18th March 2014. Light golden with a white crown that tried to hang around for a while. Crisp and almost sharp in the mouth, almost odourless (like most lager/pilsners) with a slight malt hint. The taste leaned towards maltiness with the hops keeping the beer balanced and on an even keel. An OK Helles in all aspects.

750ml bottle pours an inky black with some creamy, brown head. Nose has a lot of booze, toast, marshmellow, vanilla, burnt molasses. Flavor has a lot of raw barrel, burnt marshmellow, vanilla, oak, caramel. Full bodied.

13th March 2014: in my second flight at the Back Bay Bar (inside Wholefoods, Newport Beach). Slight mistiness to the old gold colour with a white head.Refreshing and interesting. Vanilla and honey melon came to mind as I sniffed and sipped the brew. I’m not a huge fan of wheat beers, but this was fine and sat apart from the other beers I tried during a pretty boozy day (the others being mostly high alcohol or hop laden).
