Description
Hangar 24 began its craft brewing exploration with a true passion for good beer, the absolute love of flying and the pure enjoyment of being around great friends. My buddies and I used to meet at hangar No. 24 at the Redlands Municipal Airport, after an afternoon of flying, to trade stories, talk aviation, play music and share a few cold ones that were recently home brewed. These days, the location of where the beers are brewed has changed, but the quality time spent enjoying a delicious, handcrafted beer and conversation with friends is the same as ever. I personally want to invite you to join the adventure. Cheers! Ben Cook.

Big thanks to the Tucson tasting hosts fata2683 and Mrs fata2683. The growler poured mahogany with bubbly white head. The aroma is nice and spicy with rye spiciness, some malts, burnt malt notes and a decent bit of spicy anise too. The taste is similar with yummy bold spicy rye and spicy hops mixing with pleasing notes of dark roasted malts to burnt malts. The dark roasted malts, hops and spiciness all come together wonderfully. This is bold on all levels.

Bottle shared at Woodshop 6 (same day as the beer’s release). I was looking forward to this one, but it looks like I will need to rerate it in a few months. I brew quite a few sours at home and some of them (especially the lighter colored ones) suffer from the same problem this one exhibited. Its an off flavor that doesn’t show up in the flat beer, but it shows up for the first few months of bottle conditioning. Its a very odd but distinct crackery/cereally flavor that reminds me of Cheerios. It is all over this beer. If you have bottles I suggest you hold on to them for a couple more months (3 maybe), as this flavor does fade with time.
Anyway, rant over, on to the beer in its current state (numbers are a bit generous at the moment). Pours with a hazed golden hued body with a small white head. Aroma of brett and good funk. Strong grainy, crackery, cheerio smell that I notice in my young bottle conditioned sours. Flavors are young, floral, caramel apple (like the type you get at the fair as a kid). Brett, and Cheerios. Light oak notes, vanilla. Medium fruity ester notes. Lively bubbles and dry. Alcohol was well hidden.
This beer is immature at the moment, and should probably not have been released quite yet. I have full faith that this off flavor will fade in the next few months.

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ home.[ Trade by JohnC ]. Light unclear light yellow colour with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is light moderate malty, citrus - lemon - lime, light moderate yeasty, light coriander - ginger. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, citrus, soapy citrus, dry, peppery notes. IMO a bit like a saison ! Excessively large (for the ABV) sample on tap (16ozs). Pours with a somewhat murky deep brown body with a tan head that lasts pretty well. Aromas of chocolate, malty, grainy, brown sugar, bread. Low hop aroma. Mostly clean (very light esters). Flavors of bitter chocolate. Decently bitter overall as well. Dry, malty, bready and toasty. Light roast that is on the chocolate side (rather than the more coffee to acrid flavors). Medium to full bodied, medium carbonation. Lightly warming. No astringencies. Decent.

Nitro tap. Pours with a murky near black body with a lingering off-white head. Aromas are malty, bready, light roast and a touch of salinity. Flavors are roasty, smoke, bready, and a bit of salt. Creamy and smooth. 3.5
Re-rate: On tap (co2) at the brewery. Pours with a black body and a foamy, off-white head. Aromas are roasty, dry, bready, earthy with some coffee grounds and a light hop note. Flavors are very roasty, a bit of anise, very dry and bready with a bit of a cereal grain note. Malty. Very sessionable. Medium to lively bubbles, dry, roasty with some bitterness towards the finish. Good stuff.
