Bottle from Cedarbarn Farm Shop, near Pickering, to take me to 20 East Yorkshire rates (only 3 counties left below my 20 target now). Dark brown to black with a craggy light brown head. Cocoa dominates, with quite a heavy roast giving a moderately bitter finish. There's a hint of orange essence in there, but I'm definitely not getting marmalade. Texture seemed a tad powdery. It's ok, but a little disappointing - certainly well away from this brewery's best.

Bottle from the buffet car onboard the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Think this is possibly my first ever train beer? It's amber with an off-white head. It's bittersweet, with an earthy woodland bitterness balanced against treacley toffee malts. A simple but effective traditional bitter; I enjoyed this & would love to try it on cask.

Can from Castle Howard Farm Shop, near Malton. Clear, vivid gold colour with a thick and lasting white head. Nice honey flavour up front - so much so that I checked the ingredients to see if it had honey added (it hasn't). Sweet lemon comes through with a touch of grass in the finish. Some might find it on the sweet side for a lager but I rather enjoyed it. Nice one.

Bottle. A gift from Totnes. The person not the place. Not sure I’ve added a Wold Top beer before. Anyway. Clear pale gold. Decent sticky white swede. Nose has nice hoppage here. And surprisingly unbuttery. Bit of peach and ripe nectarine. Some light piny notes. Taste has some light caramel sweetness and a good hit of bitterness. Drinks well and feels fresh. Light bitter finish. Way better than I was expecting.

Bottle from Hogs Back Brewery Shop. Down as Specialy Grain but is it just another fool's Gold? Certainly on appearance it is - clear gold. Thin foamy translucent white head. Aroma has light citrus, malts and boiled veg. Flavourwise it's... bad. Bitter and tart sourness over veg soup and sweaty socks. Light. Thin. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Awful Gold with gluten free grains.

A clear golden beer with a white head. Aroma of citrusy and floral hops, grapefruit, biscuit malt. Taste of citrusy and piney bitter hops, floral hops, oranges, moderate to long bitter finish.

330ml can. Pours a clear mahogany with a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that laces. Mild aroma of roasted malt, caramel and coffee. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, caramel, nuts and coffee in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Just ok. Could use more body.
