Can from RHS Wisley shop, as Thoughtful Forager Chocolate Milk Stout. Aroma has malty chocolate and instant coffee. Creamy edge. Vague sour berries. Dark. Cola brown in the light. Creamy beige head soon develops a bald spot. Initial light creaminess, soon followed by s bitter black coffee and liquorice streak. Smoothed out by the continuing cream. Develops a sour berry tang. In fact the blackberries eventually become the focus. Medium bodied. Creamy.- if watered down. Average-fizzy carbonation. Enjoyable.

Cask at Coachmakers Arms, Hanley. Pours almost black with a small pale beige head and good lacing. Lactose and roast malts dominate the nose. In the mouth it is sweet and watery with flavours of roast malts and liquorice. The lactose is still their but muted with cocoa and chocolate hints also bubbling under. Finish is a bit salty. This is a really nice milk stout – the lactose not overdone, and plenty of character.

Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Dark brown, translucent. A ring of beige head with generous lacing. Nose gives coffee, chocolate and a little bit of liquorice. Taste is sweet, more liquorice, just a little bit vegetal. Thick body for the ABV with soft carbonation. An above average beer if a little flawed.

Keg, half-pint in Slater's, Stafford on 12th Mar 2020. No head at all, hazy golden orange, looked like cider. Citrus notes in the hoppy nose and taste, lemon flavours ruled the fairly bitter brew from start to finish.
