Bottle from my daughter - thank you, my sweet little princess! Pours hazy dark coffee brown with airy lightish tan head. Clear aroma of malt caramel, and honey, with roasty and estery notes. Roasty and hoppy onset, giving way to sweetish notes of honey and caramel malt and touches of yeast. Bitter, slightly metallic and roasty aftertaste with touches of caramel malt and yeast. Quite reasonable but I could do without the metallic nuances.

Bottle, 8.5%. Sweet and vinous aroma. Almost black colour, seems cloudy. Small, frothy, light brown head. The flavour is sweet and sugary with some liquorice and a sort of liquorice syrup finish. Obviously fairly sweet, but not too cloying.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an almost clear, dark orangey brown with a creamy, beige head. Aroma is subtle, perhaps a little dark, dried fruit. Medium body, subtle roast and licorice, but also Belgian yeast and some notes of dark, dried fruit. Very soft on the palate. Very discreet bitterness, but doesn't feel overly sweet. Very balanced and well made. Underrated. 290120
