Hanging up the helmet now, very much in beer mode for this crisp single hop keg pour. Hazy golden, this Antipodes hop provides some light exotic fruit notes in both aroma and taste, somewhat sweet too.

Cask at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours golden straw with minimal almost white head and good lacing. There’s floral hops, citrus and grapefruit in the aroma. In the mouth it is basically sweet with a little underlying bitterness and a creamy texture. Flavour is lemon, citrus and traces of tangerine and spice with a slightly fruity and sticky finish. It’s reasonable but not really my sort of beer.

Cask at Whitlock's Ale House, Leeds. Darkest cola brown. Foamy beige head doesn't quite provide full coverage. Aroma has coffee with a touch of tar. Flavourwise it's bitter - coffee and liqourice and tar. Develops a slightly sweet sour edge. Herbal and floral notes. Makes me think of a BIPA. Thick. Creamy. Flat carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Good stuff.

Handpull cask at the Corn Dolly, Bradford. Light gold and clear (once it settles) with a small uneven white head. Light aroma of white grapefruit and some orange. Sweet taste with a light hoppy bitterness through to the finish. Body holds up well with soft carbonation. Basic as you like but no worse for it.

'Mad Friday' 2025 Beer#3. Third brew on one of the busiest drinking days of the year. Cloudy brown appearance, which is not the most appealing, but in terms of taste this is a crisp best bitter. There's quite a good underlying hoppiness to the beer too, enhancing the flavour.

'Mad Friday' 2025 Beer#2. Second brew on one of the busiest drinking days of the year. Hazy golden with a bit of froth to its head. Crisp and creamy, belying its strength, and enhancing the traditional hoppy taste.
