Description
Pig Iron Brewing Company is a 3-Barrel Microbrewery based in Rowley Regis specialising in traditional real ales.
Starting in 2014 in Brierley Hill, then moving to Rowley Regis in 2017 after purchasing a traditional black country pub in the heart of Rowley Regis, The Britannia Inn, The brewery has steadily been improving and expanding, with another outlet being purchased in 2016, a tiny micropub called The Weavers Real Ale House. The original brewer, Tim Hibbert (Tim from Zim), came back on board in 2019 and has excelled the Brewery forward substantially with his attention to detail.

[ As Pig Iron I.P.A. ].Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, fruity malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average duration, fruity, pale malt, light peach - citrus. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, fruity malt, earthy - black currant notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, earthy - black currant - fruity, pale malt - caramel, sweet malt. GBBF Day 2. Cask. Clear gold beer, no head. Palate is light, semi dry and has reasonable fine carbonation. Light tangy malts, tangy caramel. Ripe citrus. Dry floral finish. Passable.

Cask at GBBF ’16, day two, 10/08/16. Rich amber/copper with a decent off white head. Nose is earthy fruit rinds, biscuit, brown bread, straw. Taste comprises biscuit malt, bitter orange, bred dough, light spice, toffee, grains. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light bitterings in the close. Decent bitter.

Cask at GBBF Saturday, 13/08/2016. A clear copper orange coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Aroma is earthy rustic nutty malts, sweet red berries, earth. Flavour is composed twiggy nuts, toasted earth, tangy cranberry, bitter earthy hop. Palate is semi sweet grainy, ok condition.
