Bottle. Cloudy golden beer with a strong bubbly head. The aroma is roasted and sour, and the flavour is sour and bitter with yeasty elements. Overall a pretty disappointing beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500 ml bottle courtesy of Hugh (non-RB). Thanks for the gift! Brought to tasting on April 21. Pours hazy dark reddish brown with a frothy bronish white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with dark bread, caraway, metal, liquorice root, caramel, wood, dusty cocoa and hints of cleanser. Taste is slightly sweet and slightly bitter with dark bread, bread spices, liquourice root, orange peal, black currants, grape zest and hints of metal. Mouthfeel is round, tiny tart and light to medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and slightly sour with dark bread, yeast and orange peal. The chemical smell brings it down a bit but except for that this was a surprisingly good beer.

Cask-conditioned at the Nottinghamshire beer festival, Seven Stars, Bristol March 2012. Near black with a decent, off-white head. Aromas of plain chocolate and berry fruit with a touch of roastiness. Flavour had more chocolate and fruit with a dryish finish. Very good.

Cask-conditioned at the Nottinghamshire beer festival, Seven Stars, Bristol March 2012. Deep gold with a slight white head. Citrus hops, orange fruit, cereal malts and a dry finish. Fine.

Cask gravity @ Battersea BF 2012. Pours a golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty weak hoppy aroma. Fruity malty peaty caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty peaty finish with hoppy hints in the aftertaste.

Cask, gravity at Dudley Winter Ales Festival Sat 26th November 2011 with Bob. Pours hazy gold with a white head. The chap next to me suggests American hops, Iโm not sure as all I get is a strange chemically, twiggy flavour. Not really sure about this, to be fair it is three days into this beer festival and I am not convinced that many of the beers are the best of condition now. A6 A3 T5 P3 Ov12

Cask at NWAF, 2011. Amber pour, no head. Citrus, peach and pear in the nose. Nice citrus kick with malts and herbs. Bitter, hoppy finish.
