Description
Burdock brewery set up shop in what used to be an old Portuguese chicken restaurant, and they transformed the space into an artist-driven bar/restaurant/music hall/microbrewery run by a group of musicians and music lovers. They offer a rotating list of clean pale ales, complex saisons, crisp pilsners, zippy sours, and beer-wine hybrids that are all brewed in house.

A hazed milky yellow ipa with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity biscuit malt with resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, light tropical fruits, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity biscuit malt with resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, pleasant.

375ml bottle. Pours a hazy beige with a thin, fizzy, short lived, white head that leaves spotty lacing. Acidic aroma of pale malt, white wine, vinegar, funky yeast, hay, oak and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of pale malt, green grape skins, pear, green apple, honeydew melon, lemon, funky yeast, oak and floral hops in a dry, sour, acidic finish. Medium body with an oily texture and lively carbonation. Lots of complexity and surprisingly quite quaffable.

Part of their Holy Ducks IPA Gift Pack with a prayer candle. Clean, golden colour with a white frothy cap, good retention and thick, foamy-soapy lacing. Some good grassiness in the nose, with piney notes, and then... a touch of berries that is interesting. Flavours of caramel malts, cereal notes and the pine-grassy hoppiness. A slick mouthfeel with a slow building dryness. Gets a tad hazy as it pours. A pretty good West Coast IPA that hits the spot, yet still goes down smoothly.

How could I not try this at the source? It’s fresh hoppy with the ABV well hidden. Decent, though I prefer the Ducks IPA.

My first ever beer in Canada and I happen to accidentally come across a brewery with a duck obsession. Love it! This one is a nice hazy IPA. Fresh and fruity and good. Truly a breath of fresh air after a month in the Caribbean!

Part of their Holy Ducks IPA Gift Pack with a prayer candle. Hazed, golden-yellow colour with an amber hue, a white bubbly head, average stay and some foamy lacing on the brew. Peach-pineapple nose at first, but on the mild side, with melon notes coming to blend things and funk-farm hints. The flavours are a mix of tropical fruits, light citrus zest and the melony finish. A juicy mouthfeel with decent dryness. A little more juicy than their Double IPA from this trilogy I just had, so better for the style.

Part of their Holy Ducks IPA Gift Pack with a prayer candle. Lightly hazed, bright golden-yellow with a white cap, average stay and some mild lacing. Aromas of fresh herbal hops, some lemon zest and orange peel, juices. A wet mouthfeel with some decent dryness. Good citrus flavours with some light zest-bitterness lingering. Not bad, but a little unbalanced. Lacking juiciness, oats, but refreshing overall, as not as heavy.

Novel stuff. Nice ashy roast crossed with tangy berries. Scorched earth. Tart raspberry, bit of acidity. Some old leather. Baking cocoa. Drinks pretty light for the ABV. Enjoyable.

Uklar orangerød med luftig off-white skum. Lukter bringebær og sitrus. Mye kullsyre. Lett syrlig. Smak av bringebær og sitrus. Kunne godt ha vært mye mer smak av bær. Men forfriskende er den....

Draft: Poured a clear pale yellow color lager with a large white foamy head with great retention and some lacing. Aroma of cereal notes with some faint residual sugar notes. Taste is also a mix of clean cereal notes with some faint residual sugar notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Great lager with good drinkability even if the flavor profile is thin.
