Description
WHEN YOU SIT DOWN WITH A BEER, YOU’RE AFTER SOMETHING. Maybe it’s nuanced layers of flavor, the siren call of a favorite hop, or to test your skill identifying stone fruit tasting notes. Maybe you’re chasing the new or craving the familiar, perhaps you just want to kick back for a drink with friends—and order another of the same. At Bearded Iris, our beers meet you where you are and deliver the experience you seek, whatever it might be, because that’s what we believe makes beer worth drinking. CULTIVATE VARIETY DRIVES US AT BIBCO. (WE’RE NOT KIDDING.) With a menu that skews heavily toward IPAs, DIPAs, and pales, it can appear that we don’t, in fact, cultivate much “variety.” But here’s the thing: we’re not looking to bombard you with a checklist of styles. Instead, we know that each hop varietal and every intentionally selected ingredient contains a multitude of possibilities that can be deliberately unlocked and unleashed, then honed and hemmed in tightly, to construct a pint that’s unapologetically itself, memorably composed, and fun to drink. Every time. Regardless of style. To us, that’s the variety worth cultivating. And that’s what we bring to your table.

16oz can thanks to Rick. Pours out a hazy golden topped with a white head. Nose is tropical fruit hops some sweetness and grapefruit peel. Taste is more of the light tropical fruit hops some orange juice and a little bitter sweet on the end.

Pretty much right in line with the regular ultra-citrus Attention Please, only with a lengthier bitterness on the back end combined with some pungent Galaxy grassiness and a peppery finish. Big and green on the nose with ample citrus. Less boozy than the original, but a bit more astringent. Drinkable as hell, though. Another solid Bearded Iris DIPA.

Fairly straightforward Bearded Iris IPA, giant loads of juicy, tropical-citrus hops on top of a mild biscuit malt base, followed by an easygoing modest bitter finish. The hops offer up peach, lemon, orange, and mango accented by dank notes and a floral back end. Palate seems a bit rough, somewhat astringent and boozy despite only being 6.4%. But the Bearded Iris haze we know and love is there, and the nose is an IPA dream, dank and juicy and fruit-forward. Not their best, but drinkable.

16oz can, specifically marked as Double Dry hopped, pours an opaque orange, ringing white head. Looks like pineapple juice. Nose is super green and grassy, chive, green mangoes and papayas, perfume, chewed bubblegum. Flavor is even better, more citrus here, fresh grapefruit zest, lemon, pine, grass, soap, chive, mild grist. Finishes bitter, full bodied, chalky. This is exceptional. If this had a Trillium logo, people would fall over themselves for it.

Another lovely DIPA from Bearded Iris, tropical and sweet with a solid herbal-pine middle and a firm bitterness on the finish. Mango and candied orange peel mix with caramel and a toasty grain undertone, leading to a pinecone back end with the slightest of alcohol warmth. Fades with a floral flourish (alliteration!) and a clingy swath of herb. Gorgeous pour, not as cloudy as most BI offerings but still a lovely gold with a massive white head and ample lace. Feel is creamy and full, a bit boozy but manageable.

Can from Gambrinus. Pours a hazy mango gold with a creamy head that lingers for a bit. Crushed pineapple nose with some dank, pine & light diesel. Creamy on the palate with some orangina like texture. Mango as it warms. Smooth!

Herb-heavy IPA, big on juicy dankness underlined by bright passion fruit and a bitter, clingy pine finish. Malts come across restrained, some biscuit and toast but not quite balanced enough to round out the hop blitz. Bread and pine on the fade. Pours a uber-hazed yellow gold with a slight head and minimal lace. Nose is mostly weed with a little cat pee and pine. Creamy texture. Good, not great.

Thanks willisread for the can! Poured into a snifter showing moderately filtered honey orange with half a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows pineapple and pine with hints of honey. The palate is well carbonated and light bodied. Light flavors of sharp pine resin.
