Description
Established in 2017 in the most Eastern point of mainland Scotland, we brew our beers in small batches in the nautical town of Peterhead. At Brew Toon we are passionate about creating bold, adventurous craft beers, packed full of flavour and character. We strive to use local ingredients where ever possible and pride ourselves on this provenance.

Brew Toon was born out of a passion for brewing and craftsmanship in general.

Our brewery is based on a historic site in Peterhead, which was once home to "Hunter & Sons - Tanfield Brewery". This heritage is hugely important to us and massively influential in how we run our brewery today.

Can from Fountainhall Wines, Aberdeen. It pours black with rugged tan head. The aroma is sweet and intoxicating, chocolate brownies, cookie dough, cakey malts and fondant icing. The taste is quite sweet upfront, chocolate cake batter, toasty malt, chocolate brownies, creamy, caramel, fudge, fondant icing, vanilla, burnt toast and a touch of umami in the backdrop with a sweet, milk chocolate finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Ok to begin, but it gets even sweeter as it warms up. Not my kind of bier...

Can from Rosemount Market, Aberdeen. It pours hazy deep orange with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is fragrant, spicy, warming, orange peel, custard, marzipan and gingerbread. The taste is dry, bitter, warming spice, fiery ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, hot cross buns, orange peel, marmalade, pannetone, raisin, sultana, marzipan and warming booze with a tangy orange finish. Medium body and average carbonation. A bit unbalanced tbh.

Hard to source. Picked up at the brewery taproom / bottle shop. Sampled on tap and a can. It pours darkest brown to black with a dissipating tan head. The aroma is big on the rum, rich, unctuous, oily, vanilla, rum, dark and dried fruits, raisin, sultana, fig, cherry, splash of cherry cola, booze soaked oak, coffee grounds and cacao nibs. The taste is slick, oily, toasted brown sugars, roasted malt, bitter - sweet, slick, oily, chocolate gateaux, heady rum vibes, vanilla fudge, toffee, rum soaked oak, raisin, sultana, fig, cherry, toasted fruit cake, Dr Pepper, warming booze, rum & raisin ice cream, toasted nut and praline with a warming run finish. Medium - fulsome body and soft but supportive carbonation. The rum works so well with this. Outlaw rum is great stuff. Brew Toon's very best I would say.

Can picked up at the brewery. It pours pours pretty much black with a decent khaki head. The aroma is warming, spicy, fragrant, cinnamon, ginger, vanilla, definite lucky tattie vibes, dark roast and cacao nibs. The taste is bitter - sweet, vanilla cream, warming spice, fragrant, cinnamon, ginger snaps, nutmeg, roasty malt, earthy, wood bark and a touch of alcohol warmth through the finish. Medium+ body and average carbonation. Novel and works well actually. As someone who has had a lucky tattie before I can feel the nostalgia pumping through my veins (that could be the alcohol). Silly.

Can picked up at they taproom. It pours darkest brown to black with a handsome khaki head. The aroma is dark roasted malt, bitter - sweet, dessicated coconut, rich chocolate, vanilla, bounty bar, almost something minty about it, white sugar and tunnocks tea cakes. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, rich but smooth roasted malt, nice chocolate character, actually not too sweet at all, drying, toasted coconut, bounty bar, macaroon, wagon wheels, tunnocks teacakes, restrained alcohol presence and hint of burnt toast. Finish is bitter - sweet and smooth. Medium+ body and average carbonation. Was concerned that this would have been far too sweet, but it just isn't. Fun.
