Description
Established in 2017 in the most Eastern point of mainland Scotland, we brew our beers in small batches in the nautical town of Peterhead. At Brew Toon we are passionate about creating bold, adventurous craft beers, packed full of flavour and character. We strive to use local ingredients where ever possible and pride ourselves on this provenance.
Brew Toon was born out of a passion for brewing and craftsmanship in general.
Our brewery is based on a historic site in Peterhead, which was once home to "Hunter & Sons - Tanfield Brewery". This heritage is hugely important to us and massively influential in how we run our brewery today.

440ml can. Almost clear golden with an off-white head. Aroma of honey, caramel, meaty smoke, floral/herbal. Taste is sweet, lots of honey and caramel, floral, and a bit herbal, smoke is well judged adding an extra dimension to this braggot in the form of some meaty flavour, finish is boozy, warming. Medium-full bodied, slick oily texture.
Very nice braggot, wasn't expecting the smoke so that was a pleasant surprise.

Cardiff Mini-break Beer#6. Found the first of two new Scottish cask ales lurking in this chain bar, a weak tasting Rugby Special, must be for those who want to watch all the matches going on in the day. The hoppy character isn't too bad though, just requires for me, a little more depth. Has a light bitterness.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours clearish pale yellow with a fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, clean, bright, zingy citrus, lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, biscuit and muted toffee. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, bitter, pithy, zesty, zingy, lemon rinse, grapefruit, tangerine, orange blossom, touch, green, grassy and a touch of peppery spice with a drying finale. Light body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Bright and zesty. Not a huge amount of depot, but refreshing nonetheless.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours deep chestnut brown with a small off - white head. The aroma is malt - driven, bitter - sweet, brown bread, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, fruit cake, malt loaf and a splash of cola. The taste is firmly dry, bitter, toasty grains, woody, some spice, toasted fruit cake, resin, leather and some toasted nuts with a drying, toasty finish. Light to average body and moderate carbonation. Rather flavourful for the abv. Nice bitterness to it.

The taste is bitter - sweet, oily, slick, mouth - coating honey, honey cake, caramel, stroopwaffle, taffy, tangy, pleasing booziness and dull.snoke with a drying finale. Keg at St Machar Bar, Old Aberdeen. It pours cloudy/murky burnt orange with a fluffy white cap. The aroma is a bit sweaty, sweet, creamy, ripe mango, apricot, persimmon, mango milkshake and fruit smoothie. The taste is smooth, creamier & sweeter than expected, milky, less pucker, mango fruit smoothie, peach melba, berocca, splash of white wine and fruit pie. I was expecting a sour and was left with a fruit smoothie. It's ok, but has a very short finish.

Keg at St Machar Bar, Old Aberdeen. It pours hazy deep purple with a small, pinky - white head. The aroma is sweet - sour, juicy, tangy, loads of red berry, strawberry, raspberry pip, blackcurrant, bramble, jammy vibes, light vanilla and candy. The taste is dry and puckering upfront, tart, sour, acidic fruits, loads of tangy red berries, strawberry, jammy, raspberry, blackcurrant, slap of booze, fairly sweet later on, juicy, tangy and some sour cherry tangfastics. A proper slap in your face. Medium body and prickly carbonation. Fun for a third or so, but sure I would want much more though.

Cask at St Machar Bar, Old Aberdeen. It pours clear pale blonde with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet biscuit, sponge cake, madelines, fruit pie, slightly spicy and floral. The taste is crisp, firmly dry, bitter, snappy, green, grassy, floral, spicy, herbal and woody with a bone dry finish. Light+ body and moderate cask carbonation. Decent enough, but as drinkable as I had hoped for though.
