Description
The New Old Lompoc opened on May 6th, 2000. But the Old Lompoc Brewery (as it was formerly know) has been producing handcrafted ales and lagers since December 1996, while the tavern has been open since 1993.

The name originally came from the movie ‘The Bank Dick’ starring W.C. Fields and Mae West. Most of the movie took place in the ‘Old Lompoc House’, which was the local watering hole as well as a boarding house.

Our food menu is an excellent array of Northwest pub fare with a great selection of entrees, soups and salads. We have also remodeled the patio and added a sun deck.

Draught. Honestly, I wouldn’t call this a barley wine. Poured light brown with medium head. Sweet aroma. Sweet malty flavour on a full body, with enough bitterness to keep it from getting cloying. Lingering pleasing flavour. Almost dry enough to be a session beer. The pub called it a mild.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Bottled on 30 Oct. 2009. Pours very dark brown with a slight beige/tan head. Strong nose of vanilla and oak. And raisin or prune. Maybe chocolate. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is chocolate, wood, dark fruit, vanilla. It’s both smooth and harsh. I think I taste bourbon. Very nice beer. Heat is a bit noticeable.

Sample at Belmont Station in Portland during a New Old Lompoc tasting. The beer is a murky dark brown color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, lemon rinds and bourbon. Rich body with a moderate amount of bourbon character, and flavors of dark fruit, caramel, malt and hops. Touches of lemony citrus here as well. The finish is oaky with a sweet caramel malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

On draught at Belmont Station in Portland, served in a snifter. Pours inky black with a thick and foamy light tan head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Strong coffee aroma with some roasted malt behind it. Full, smooth body with roasted coffee, dark malt and hops flavors. The finish is black coffee with a bit of dark chocolate as well. Coffee bitterness lingers a long time. Very enjoyable overall.

courtesy of unclejedi, New Year party in AL. pours orange, off-white head aroma and flavor, pine hops dominate this one followed by some citrus, grapefruit elements. Light notes of malts come add a little variety here and ends on a nice grassy hops touch.

Bomber pours deep copper with slight haze, thin off white head and some sheet lacing. The aroma is full of pine hops and malts creating a pine mustiness. Not much else going on. The taste is similar starting with a moderate pine bitter hop bite moving toward mild grapefruit and pine hop flavor. It picks up a touch of roastiness and sweet malts by midway. Into the finish is seems to pick up more hop bitterness mostly coming from pine hops.
