Description
The New Old Lompoc opened on May 6th, 2000. But the Old Lompoc Brewery (as it was formerly know) has been producing handcrafted ales and lagers since December 1996, while the tavern has been open since 1993.

The name originally came from the movie ‘The Bank Dick’ starring W.C. Fields and Mae West. Most of the movie took place in the ‘Old Lompoc House’, which was the local watering hole as well as a boarding house.

Our food menu is an excellent array of Northwest pub fare with a great selection of entrees, soups and salads. We have also remodeled the patio and added a sun deck.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Marked as Lompoc Special Draft. Pours with a light, off-white head over a hazy deep amber body. Aroma of sarsaparilla, toffee and chocolate fudge. Taste is a bit smokey with chocolate, leather and a bit of bitterness in the finish. Watery mouthfeel.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a small, off-white head over a hazed amber body. Good lace left behind. Aroma is herbal, and nutty with very light hops. Light lemony citrus with a bit of honey rounding out. Taste is floral hops, some nutshells, and caramel malts balancing. Hops seem a bit faded for the 100IBU claim. Effervescent with a water like consistency.

Sampled at Toronado 2009 Barleywine Festival. Pours deep amber with copper edges and tan head. The aroma is a mix of figs, prunes and dates to go along with aged chewy malts and faint wood. Good nose yet a bit modest in strength. Very nice taste that will yield increased goodness with more age. I get musty dusty dates, yams, figs and prunes. Before midway the barrel notes rise up with bourbon, vanilla and oak adding to the complexity. Well balanced flavors that demand additional quaffings. I could sip this all day/night.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Pours reddish copper with a think tan head. So much citrus/floral hop that the roast malt is nearly hidden. Medium body with creamy carbonation. The flavor is lush hop. Floral, citrus, maybe a touch of resin, and there’s roast malt underneath. A slight hop burn in the finish. This is a really good one.

Bomber from Liquid Solutions. Labeled as Lompoc Special Draft. 6.9%. Dark brown color with ruby notes. Thick light tan head. Aroma of strongly roasted caramel. Just a tinge of hoppiness. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Smooth malty roast, with a little smokiness, and some hop resin. It gets even better into the finish. Mouthsmacking.

22oz bottle-pours a foamy to rich tan head that laces and dark copper color. Aroma is nice sweet pine/citrus-grapefruit. Taste is very dry, quite bitter pine/resin/citrus-grapefruit hops, puckering. A palate killer that was mostly raw hops at the beginning. Half way through the pint, it still had its raw edge but was quite enjoyable, although the balance scale seemed 6 parts hops 1 part malt. Great beer. Although no way a session beer. Thanks to skourtis for this trade with jwc215 & me.
