Description
In 1908 Ernesto Günther and a group of investors founded in the city of Cusco, a branch of the Cervecería Alemana Günther & Tidow. In 1939 Cervecera Alemana Günther & Tido changed its name to Compañía Cervecera del Sur del Perú (Cervesur) and increased its production. In 2000 the company with its plants in Arequipa and Cusco, and with the popular brand Cusqueña, becomes part of the Backus Group (Backus y Johnston), thereby consolidating itself to the point of turning it into a company capable of competing in a globalized environment. Finally, in 2015, the Backus Group becomes part of AB InBev.

Bottle from Cervemur, Murcia, Spain. Pours a clear golden yellow colour with small white head. Light aroma of citrus hops. Light body, thin texture. Average carbonation. Not much to it.

Pours a clear golden color, topped with an average white head. Malty aroma, slightly grainy and little bit skunky - not much there. Taste is sweet, followed by what is a dissastrous body. No bitterness, very sweet and just no... One of the worst ones.

Pours a clear golden color, topped with a small white head. Malty aroma, some grassy notes in there too. Taste starts with a very slight sweetness, followed by nice bitterness. Crisp and refreshing, slightly metallic in theaftertaste. Not that bad actually. Pretty drinkable. Especially ice cold.

My mom brought this one back from a trip to Peru. +++ sampled from a 330 ml brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with a small foamy white head that faded and left minimal lacing. The aroma was malty, sweet, tangy, corny and had a bit of citrus. The flavor was sweet and tangy sugar, corn, a bit of yeast, citrus and a hint of sour mash. Medium length finish. Medium body. Basic macro lager style.

Pours dark golden with a white head. Aroma is sugar and a hint of grain. Taste is kind of sweet. No hops. Some grain. Not terrible. Better than Cristal, probably.

Each country seems to have its national bland lager, and this is the one from Peru. It has a stable, snow white head and a deep golden blonde colour, cristal clear as the name suggests. Simple and neutral aroma, consisting of sweetish pale malts and some grassy hops but not much else. Neutral taste, minerals, light sweetish pale malts, very light grassy hops in the finish but no actual bitterness. Very bland but correct, nothing really off-putting.

Bottle from Sainsbury's. Pours gold with a small head. Grainy taste. Overall it's just another pale lager. But at least it's a tick for Peru!

33cl bottle thanks to Lynn. Appearance - amber with a decent head. Nose - sweet malt and nuts. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and unfortunately quite a sweet finish. Overall - if a session strength lager doesn’t refresh what is the point?

Decent lager, slightly sweeter than most and I think it’d be ever so slightly sickly if you had a few. Slightly metallic aftertaste.
