Description
In 1908 Ernesto Günther and a group of investors founded in the city of Cusco, a branch of the Cervecería Alemana Günther & Tidow. In 1939 Cervecera Alemana Günther & Tido changed its name to Compañía Cervecera del Sur del Perú (Cervesur) and increased its production. In 2000 the company with its plants in Arequipa and Cusco, and with the popular brand Cusqueña, becomes part of the Backus Group (Backus y Johnston), thereby consolidating itself to the point of turning it into a company capable of competing in a globalized environment. Finally, in 2015, the Backus Group becomes part of AB InBev.

33cl bottle. Pale golden in the glass, slightly malty nose. The beer starts quite grainy, slightly bitter. The mainpart is a bit sharp, slightly unround, slightly metallic. The aftertaste is strange, sharp, unround, malty but not nice, very dry.

Bottle at Dean’s Pale Lager tasting, Den Haag. Sourced from Beers of Europe. Poured a light straw colour with a thin white head and some broke lace. The aroma is stale malt. The flavour is weak bitter. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Pretty awful. I’m never going to Peru!

Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of malts, bit vegetable, light vanilla, reminding somewhat of WD40. Sweet malty flavour, nuts. Watery body, sweet malty finish.

A copper amber lager with a thick mocha head. In aroma, a strange sweet malt with sulfur notes, and berries, corn, bofff..... In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with grassy notes, corn, not very good. Bottle from Peru. Shared with GRM.
