Description

Our mission is pretty much monomaniacal: to brew f*cking good beer. We call it craft-y beer because the owl's got a sharp, uncompromised tongue and a penchant for mischief.

On a typical day we toy with the familiar – unfiltered lager, silky hefeweizen and puckery American IPA, anyone? – but at night we explore the crafty beer extremes from our medieval watering hole Haarlem (That's Haarlem with two 'a's, the Dutch one, and the namesake of New York's single-'a'ed Harlem).

Really truly, our idea of fun is abusing the rauchbeer-Scotch ale-sour beer-oak-aged Imperial Stout-Barley wine clichés. The first rule of owl school: when using hops think in wheelbarrows and not buckets.

So enjoy us, drink us and by all means hop fans abuse us right back – ideally via our social media channels where we announce our very active new creations.

Acquired by Swinkels Family Brewers in 2021.

Bottle @ benzai thx to joes. Hazy darl orange colour with a small white head. Smells hoppy, fruity, some pine. Tastes hoppy, fresh, fruity, hint of sour, lasting taste. Medium body, soft carbo.

Bottle @ home shared with Joes. Lightly hazy amber color, small white head. Nice hoppy aroma with a flowery touch. Taste lightly malts, nice fruity hops and nicely bitter. Very nicely done with this low ABV. Medium body and carbonation. Very well done.

At Doerak, Delft. Hazy dark orange colour, off-white head. Nose is caramel malts, grapefruits, citrus. Flavour is caramel malts, grapefruits, citrus. Finish is fairly bitter and slightly sweet.

@Nederlandse Bieren Festival Delft - Hazy light brown colour. Strong fruity hop aroma. Thin body. Fresh and clean tasting. Very intense fruity hop flavour but not overly bitter. Great session beer.

Tap @ Delft. More of an American Pale Ale instead of IPA. Clear golden color, short head. Aroma of soft fruity hops, bit grassy. Medium bitter in taste, nicely balanced. Plenty of flavor, easy drinker. A great session ale!

330ml bottle. Clear dark orangey golden to amber colour with small, to average, frothy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Piney hop aroma, grapefruit notes. Taste is bitter, fruity and piney hoppy, some grapefruit, a touch of peach. A nice one.

On tap @ Arendsnest. Amber color, slightly hazy. Dense white (to off white) head, good lacing. Aroma’s: pine, pine needles, citrus, earthy hops, with some tropical fruit and light caramel retronasal. Flavor is grainish, moderately bitter. Light bodied. Finishes grainish and bitter. Flavor didn’t really live up to the hoppy aroma, but this was very tasty anyway. I liked it.

Draft at Arendsnest. Pours hazy orange brown with an off white head. Aroma of grapefruit, grass, light tropical fruits, really fresh hops! Flavour is light sweet and moderate to heavy bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Excellent!
