Super dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, relatively fast-dying deep brown head that leaves nothing on the sides after even just a few seconds, but is about 95 per cent opaque, deep dark brown coloured body. Aroma of alcohol, rich molasses, a lot of pitted fruits, some mild grapes, a big hit of alcohol and oatmeal and some coffee for good measure - quite strong in the nose. Full-bodied; Very rich and flavourful up front with still somehow a lot of effervescence as well, but the rich, roasty and bitter notes from coffee and chocolate dominate with some oats, vanilla, lactose and pungent burnt sugars are all here, but some lighter and more complex notes from pitted fruits, molasses and grapes do come out towards the end with more of a vinous feel and some acidity as well near the finish. Aftertaste shows some deep sugars, mainly from the roasted malts and oatmeal notes, but some caramel and treacle are noticeable, as well as the molasses and rich tannic notes from the grapes that make this finish as dry and even slightly tart, but the real flavours come from the bitterness and rich malts which are big and pungent. Overall, a rather complex and elegant beer with a ton of bitterness, pungency and flavours that come from the malt bill, especially with the burnt sugar and grainy notes towards the end, but the acidity and light tart flavours from the grapes are in the middle with some enjoyable pitted fruit and molasses sweetness at the very end. Great to sample and the time that I kept it was nice, but perhaps another 2-3 years will do this wonders as this is still somehow a bit too pungent, bitter and effervescent. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from BeerTopia in Omaha, Nebraska on 10-October-2019 for US$5,99 sampled at my house here in Washington, a bit more than three years later on 13-October-2022.

Snallygaster 2022. Poured a very lightly hazed dark yellow color with a small, foamy white head. Aroma was big hoppy notes, citrus, light floral, and touch of pine. Juicy. Pleasant, nice floral hoppy finish.

Super deep dark brown coloured body with an odd, quickly forming, three to four centimetre tall rich deep brown head that fades pretty quickly and leaves just about nothing on top, after only a few seconds, despite no pressure in the metal of the can - odd. Aroma of super strong roasted malts, vanilla, earth, grain, oatmeal, licorice and anise with a lot of deep chile and heat noticeable in the nose and finishing with some additional brown sugars and alcohol here that is picked up in the scent, too. Full-bodied; Very rich oatmeal, roasted malt and pungent earthiness come out at first with a nice robust flavour with a bunch of complexity, but also some very enjoyable heat from the chiles with a light lactose and vanilla sweetness on the end, as well. Aftertaste shows some relatively robust and strong earthy, oatmeal notes, but the sweetness and especially the chile heat comes through and produces a great complexity at the end, with a balanced, creamy and rich set of flavours throughout that seem to keep you guessing for the duration and especially at the end. Overall, a very nice and rich beer that hits nicely throughout, especially with the heat, sweetness and pungent that gives some difference in flavours than most for the style. Florals, coriander and candied molasses. Dark golden pour with some murky sediment on the bottom, but this is an old bottle. Light candy sweetness in the finish. Bottle from Max's.

Pours gold with a large fading head.Nose shows soft lemon, grassy hops and delicate malt.Flavours include Saison notes, rice, lemon and doughy hints.

Can at home. Yellow some clouds. Nose is herbal and citrus. Tastes light lemon, sage, spruce, doughy, orange zest, light white pepper. Pillowy mouthfeel.

Can shared at Tilt: Poured a deep black with a tan head. Aroma are roasted malts, chocolate. Taste is roasted malts; chocolate, doughy.

Shared can in Tilt on 2nd July 2022. No idea who brought this little baby. Black body, tan top. Chocolate like aroma and taste dominates this one, nice smooth texture.
