Bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Wild ale. Pours pretty black with a active 4 finger foamy tan head. Aromas of sour and barnyard. Med body. Flavor is chocolate, some barnyard, and sour towards the finish. Maybe some coffee? A very different ale. My mouth keeps convulsing around the flavors. Extremely well done.

10oz cask pour, very hazy, bright orange with one ring of white head. Smells like the Stillwater yeast strain, grassy, estery, herbal, lemon peel, dried malt. Flavor is herbal, lemon peel, sage, orange zest, white pepper. Medium bodied, dry, herbal finish. Standard Stillwater.

Very hazy golden orange coloured body with a thick, fast-dying off-white head and a very cloudy appearance - nice! Great aroma of honey, pine, hay, grass, yeast, wheat and a touch of coriander seed. Light to Medium-bodied; Sweet honey flavour at first that fades to a bright and assertive hay and grass flavour with some large yeast tastes and potent alcohol kick at the end. Aftertaste shows a good fresh barnyardie type flavour with some hay, coriander seed, wheat and honey all thrown in. Overall, a good saison - not amazing, but pretty good from an American brewer and definitely nice to have locally. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Logan Circle), DC on 29-October-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 14-January-2011. Rating from Sample some 9+ years later: Fairly clear copper and light bronze coloured body with a very fast-dying, two centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of grass, hay, light curacao, a dash of wheat and coriander seed freshness and finishing with a touch of lemons and candy. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and very hay-like flavours at first with a small, but noticeabnle hop profile that shows some light citrus fruits and perfume and finishes with more of the malt and soft sugars, along with a touch of curacao and coriander seed at the very end that makes this a bit complex and robust and slightly showing some hefeweizen notes to make it perhaps even more refreshing. Aftertaste shows the grassy and very dry side of things with some hay coming through, and finishing with a good balance of bitter and sweet notes, all seemingloy from the citrus components - some sweet and mostly bitter from grapefruit. Overall, a nice, full-flavoured saison with a good malt backbone, but enough complexity to bring out the more structured and refined elements of hay, curacao and the yeast strain. Good to sample and a nice option in spring/summertime to be refreshing, yet flavourful. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 21-December-2019 for US$1,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 07-July-2020. Bottle received for Christmas. Poured a hazy amber orange with a large white head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma had a good amount of floral notes joined by citrus and a bit of backing grain and yeast. Flavor had earthy floral notes with citrus and a bit of yeast.

Capped 750 from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours hazy light gold with a foamy near white head. Lots of floral aroma with a light bit of sage. Kinda earthy, not quite barnyard. Definitely saison. Medium body with kicky carbonation. Flavor is most definitely sage, with something like orange, and something that qualifies as mild barnyard. Works very well. Tasty as anything. Great.

Bottle. Pours with a huge dark head over a murky deep brown body. Aromas of caramel, buckwheat honey, molasses, grass, roast, chocolate, and earth. Flavors of spicy grains, chocolate, grassy, citrus, light metal, candi sugar and biscuit. There is something on both the nose and in the flavor that I can’t name (and its bugging me). Its something floral or flowery and reminds me a bit of gin botanicals, but it isn’t juniper. Medium bitter and slightly leathery in the finish. Very lively bubbles.

Bottle. Pours with a slightly hazed golden body and a massive, fluffy, white head. Great retention and beautiful lacing. Aroma is strong of white sage and pepper. A bit grassy, some yeast phenolics, peppery, earthy, herbal, citrus. Very dry and very herbally. Flavors of citrus, grain, caramel, sage, grass. Kind of an abrupt finish. I swear I am getting a touch of diacetyl, but I must be crazy. Maybe it is the sage messing with me. Very highly carbonated. A bit of cooked pear in the aftertaste. Lively. A bit of an alcohol presence. Dry. Super drinkable. Very well done!

Cask at Max’s. Hazy yellow, scant head. Aroma of fruit, malt,white pepper. Taste is malty, tangy, medium body. Not bad.
