Bottle from the Brewery. Solid black color with a good sized frothy mocha head that persists. Rich chocolate cake batter dominates the nose with bits of molasses, roast and earth as well as a hint of wood. Rich cake batter with a bit more roasty flavor than the aroma suggested. Brown sugar, black licorice and hints of burnt sugar meld with suggestions of dark pitted fruit and wood tannin. Thick body with a light level of carbonation and a creamy rich light syrupy mouthfeel. Sweet rich decadent stout that I enjoyed sipping most of the night.

Sample at the brewery. Deep amber color with a decent off white head. Rich caramel and toffee maltiness with hints of earthy hops. Feels a bit bigger than its abv but damn tasty!

Keg pour at powder keg beer and chili festival. Aroma is fairly nondeScript but with a faint rubbery smell(?)--not very good. Appearance is light brown pour with mild sparkle, tiny head with poor retention and minimal lacing. Taste is basically mild bitter without provoking any other flavor. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, mild to lively carbonation. Overall, not too much here and not much to recommend.

Bottle from Candia Rd. Mostly clear deep golden color with a decent sized off white head thta shows moderate retention. More fruity than spicy on the nose although both exist. Hints of sugary candied fruits and just a touch of alcohol. Faint cereal grainy flavors add a nice touch to a pretty damn nice sippin’ beer.

Sunset Grill: pours pale yellow with a white head. Light flowers, slight sugar, and mineral. Taste is very lightly bitter. Kind of watery and really really light. Meh.

This was poured into an English pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking dark brown close to black color with a one finger off white to tan foamy head that dissipated within about thirty seconds. Messy lacing tries to cling but slides into the beer.
The smell had a nice sweet blend of sticky cocoa, rich dark fruits, some light coffee and a delicate amount of robust spices.
The taste was mainly sweet with a nice rich robust roastiness sticking to my tongue and leveling out to a nice smooth fruity to robust to sweet coffee aftertaste. There’s a quick little rich sweet fruity roasty finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs nice and smooth. Low
penetration of bitterness definitely shows its an English Porter.
Overall, for me it’s good. Pretty sure I’d have again. For the style, it’s right up there as a well done English Porter.

Reviewed from notes recently found. Thanks Johnnnniee!
This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange to yellow color with a thick white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds leaving barely any lacing.
The smell started off with a sharp sweet to bitter citrus blending over a decent sweet wheat base.
The taste was mainly sweet balancing a nice tart citrus and a sweet wheat base. There’s no aftertaste but it did have a quick sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation seemed spot on for the style and allowing the wheat to be the body of the beer.
Overall, this was a pretty good offering from Henniker. I’d probably have again.

Bottle thanks to AirForceHops shared at Anchorage tasting group Jun ’15: Poured a caramel brown with a white head. Aroma is full on dark fruit with a light wood hint. Taste is sticky dark fruit, cherry, boozy and yet had a very palate drying finish.

22 oz. bottle purchased at Cigarette City, Seabrook, NH. Color is hazy gold color with thin lasting head. Aroma shows a strong Belgian yeast character that comes off spicy with notes of grain and lemons.
The base is pale grains with honey tones. The body has a bready/ chewy yeast that displays Belgian qualities, spicy, pepper with traces of lemons. The hops are here with a higher then normal level for the style. Much more bitter and the actual New Zealand hops are not found here. Kind of like bitter just for the sake of being bitter. Not get me wrong it’s still a nice Belgian ale/ saison.
