Description
Sunbeam Ales is a Leeds based microbrewery run by Nigel Poustie. It was established in 2012 and has developed a reputation for multi award-winning cask ales. The brewery is only 2BBL so limited amounts of the sort after cask ales are distributed around Yorkshire.

Nigel mostly brews once a week, occasionally twice, rotating through a range of beers. Periodically he will brew a seasonal special, often incorporating foraged ingredients. The brewery doesn’t hold much stock, so it is a good idea to place pre-orders.

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Mildly hazed with a frothy head. Bread and raisins are evident enough in what is a fairly hoppy ale.

Bottle thanks to Jan. It pours clear deep brown with a beige head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, caramel, toffee, light vanilla, dried fruit and spice. The taste is dry, bitter, slightly tart, wood, vinous, leathery, berry skin, tannin, oily, brown bread, granny smith apple and funk with a drying and woody finish. Medium. Body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Quite tart....
