Description
Goose Island Beer Company began as a single brewpub opened in 1988 by John Hall. By 1995, John’s beer had become so popular that he decided to open a larger brewery, along with a bottling plant to keep up with demand. 1999 brought even more growth, along with an additional brewpub, and today, what was once one man’s pint-filled dream has become the Goose Island empire you know and love.
in 2011, Goose Island Beer Company was acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev. Since then, we’ve continued to brew beer that we’re proud of and now we get to share these beers with our friends both nationwide and internationally.

Bottled at Drinkøteka, huge thanks Kermis! Very dark brown body, fleeting head. Raisins, carob in the aroma, cookies, creamy, bit cardboardy. Juicy, smooth caramelly taste, loads of figs, raisins, nicely restrained alcohol, bit of dusty oxidation. Yeah, excellent stuff!

Opaque colour and no head. Aroma has roasted malts, vanilla and wood. Full-bodied. Roasted malts, vanilla, oak, bourbon sweetness, alcohol. Good but not the best version. Lots of wood.

0,5l from bottle at home. Vintage 2025. 14.6% ABV. black color, small coffee colored head. smells bourbon, vanilla, kahlua, very marzipan forward, cocoa, bitter chocolate, very nice smell. full body, soft carbonation. Tastes kahlua, strong marzipan, bitter almonds, vanilla, some cocoa, milk chocolate. Finishes light to medium sweet with notes of bitter almonds, vanilla and some milk chocolate. Rather intense one, I quite like it, finish trails away at first, but gets better once it warms. Barrel notes not very noticeable, just slightly by the vanilla notes and in the aroma. Very good but on the pastry side of things.

Pours with a bit of dark tan foam, leaving jet-black beer. A jumble of peperkoekherbs/spices, pistaccio, nuts and refined dessert syrup. Cinnamon, gingerbread, and muscovado syrup; waffles with maple syrup, marzipan. Voluptuous, rich, syrupy, chewy, alcoholheat. There's sweet. And then there's sweet that's filthily good - this.
