Description
UnBarred was established in 2014 from the shed of our founder and Head Brewer Jordan Mower. Born of a passion to brew uncompromising and exciting beer, our original flagship IPA won the Bev Robbins Award for the Best Sussex Beer in its first year of production. We soon outgrew the shed and moved onto gypsy brewing, enabling us to grow production and hone our craft, working together with other fabulous breweries.
Since establishing our taproom and brewery in the heart of Brighton in August 2019, we have doubled our production and embraced the Brighton community that we call home. Our core range is stocked nationwide, alongside ltd editions that embody the creativity, passion and freedom that have always defined our core ethos. We love to collaborate with other breweries that share those same values.
We’re inclusive, passionate and adventurous in everything we do, from our beer conception through to our design, brewing and welcoming taproom experience. To celebrate our roots, we love to work with local artists, independent businesses and fellow-creatives to showcase the best of the vibrant culture and boundless innovation of this beautiful city.

330ml can bought at Caps and Taps, Tufnell Park. Carried back home and shared with Finn. Fawn-coloured head with fine duration, pitch black body, spotty lacing. Smooth dark malty nose, roasted. Solid cocoa-chocolate flavours followed by a lingering dark malt-driven close. Full bodied. Rather sweet, still a decent sipper. (Tromsø, 15.12.2023).

Spandert av Rune. Delt på Vervet. Svart. Lavt mokkafarget skum. Kakaoaroma. Silkemyk munnfølelse. Smaken kakao. Litt syrlig etter hvert. Tørr, lett alkoholisk avslutning.

Fizzy brown head left a spotty cover on near black body. Medium bodied, soft with a Coca-Cola like finish. Raisins, port, berries, malt & syrup tastes with a tangy finish. Big beer.

Gravity cask at Pigs Ear '23, day two, 30/11/23. Brown with a beige head. Nose is stewed fruits, raisins, light sugar dusting, toffee. Taste comprises fruit cake, light spice, oak, toffee, dates, figs. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Not bad if lacking some depth.

Keg @ Tap and Can. Pours pitch black, tan head. Hefty barrel influence, good bourbon nose alongside dark malt, dark chocolate. Body not as thick as some, nicely balanced, presented well with strong bourbon barrel notes. Unbarred know what they're doing.

Keg @ Tap and Can. Hazed crimson red appearance, thin white head. Didn't fully read what this beer's about before the initial swig.. definitely a smorgasbord of flavours.. sharp cherry at the fore with fudgey elements in the distance. Bit of a muddle this.
