Description
UnBarred was established in 2014 from the shed of our founder and Head Brewer Jordan Mower. Born of a passion to brew uncompromising and exciting beer, our original flagship IPA won the Bev Robbins Award for the Best Sussex Beer in its first year of production. We soon outgrew the shed and moved onto gypsy brewing, enabling us to grow production and hone our craft, working together with other fabulous breweries.

Since establishing our taproom and brewery in the heart of Brighton in August 2019, we have doubled our production and embraced the Brighton community that we call home. Our core range is stocked nationwide, alongside ltd editions that embody the creativity, passion and freedom that have always defined our core ethos. We love to collaborate with other breweries that share those same values.

We’re inclusive, passionate and adventurous in everything we do, from our beer conception through to our design, brewing and welcoming taproom experience. To celebrate our roots, we love to work with local artists, independent businesses and fellow-creatives to showcase the best of the vibrant culture and boundless innovation of this beautiful city.

We are UnBarred.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours crazy cloudy golden - amber with a substantial amount of floaters (even after pouring carefully!) and a decent white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, sugary, toasted almonds, nougat, biscotti, definite cereal/granola vibes, peach and nectarine. The taste is bitter - sweet, some green danky hops upfront, pine dust, orangey fruits, peach, nectarine, bready, biscotti, icing sugar, toasted grains, cereal, some acidity and spice with a drying finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth - feel. Pretty well realised from the name/description. If anything a touch too sweet fro my liking, but its good fun anyhow.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours crazy cloudy yellow with a decent white head. The aroma is soft, juicy, tangy, massive pineappleade vibe, pineapple chunks and some creaminess. The taste is soft, sweet, juicy, creamy, pineapple juice, pineapple chunk, vanilla, pithy grapefruit kicking around, lemon drizzle cake and a bit of booze with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Does exactly what it was meant to - straight up pineapple soda, although not much IPA to it! Good fun.

Can. Cloudy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, fairly dry and has modest fine carbonation. Thin malts. Bitterish seltzer. Pithy citrus. Floral bitterness. Some hop spice, mild. A little fresh orange and mild tropical fruits. Light dry finish leaves a bitter linger. The basis of a good beer here but it’s a tad thin for style and hence there is a bit of a hollow vibe.
