In a plastic cup on the deck at Surfside Salisbury Beach. Hazy golden color with a thin white head. Citrus earth pine and light tropical fruits against a backdrop of bready toasty malt. Not too shabby.

In a plastic cup on the deck overlooking Hampton Beach at Charlie's Tap house. Dark brown in color rich roasty chocolate with earth and fruit to counter. Pretty decent porter.

Taster pour at the brewery. Appearance is clear, pale greenish-yellow with trace sparkle, thin ring of white head with trace lacing. Aroma is strong lemony citrus, green apple. Taste is light fruit with stronger herbal muskiness, spice, biscuit. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, lively carbonation and crisp, dry finish. Overall, some decent complexity. Neither a particularly strong nor sweet flavor. Decent.

Appearance is cloudy whitish-yellow with greenish tinge (like grapefruit juice), no sparkle, very thin ring of off-white head with light leggy lacing at the top of the glass. Aroma is of ripe citrus with slight musky/herbal notes. Tate is citrus, fruit, grapefruit, herbs. Palate is medium bodied with smooth texture, average-to-lively carbonation and dry finish as taste. Overall, strong and interesting aroma and flavor, appearance OK, palate decent, too. Enjoyable.

Taster pour at the brewery. Appearance is clear, very dark brown with no sparkle, ring of beige head and no lacing. Aroma is nice roasted malts with earthy quality. Taste is roasted malts (not as bold as the aroma). Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin, slick texture, soft carbonation and a dry, crisp finish with little flavor. Overall, if you're going to make a session stout, it would have to be fairly light and restrained so this does what it is supposed to do. But, if you're going to have a stout, have a stout--as session stout is kind of like diet chocolate cake.

Taste is roasted malts (almost burnt, but not in a bad way), caramel. Palate is medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, not too much complexity, but flavorful and good.

Taster pour at the brewery. Appearance is clear, golden yellow/light orange with no sparkle, thin ring of off-white head and soapy lacing at the top of the glass. Aroma is weak citrus, cracker, pine. Taste is grainy cracker and earthy bitter resin. The bitterness is more powerful than the flavor. Palate is light-to-medium bodied; thin, frothy texture; soft-to-average carbonation and mostly bitter, dry finish. Overall, not a bad drink but for IPA's, pretty pedestrian.

Taster pour at the source. Appearance is clear, very dark brown (almost opaque), with small beige head with fair retention, no discernible sparkle and fair lacing. Aroma is nice roasted malts. Taste is awesome roasted malts with chocolate and dark fruits. Palate is medium bodied with frothy texture, a little numbing on the tongue, lively carbonation and a very nice finish as taste. Overall, this was easily my favorite of the day. Nice look and palate, but the standout was the taste. Well done.
