Description
Clearwater Brewery started life in 1998 in the town of Great Torrington, North Devon. Taking its name from the purity of the local water supply that forms an integral part of each tantalising mouthful of beer, the company has become an ever-growing local success story. From small beginnings the company used carefully selected recipes to build a local following and a well-earned reputation for delicious and characterful ales. Clearwater’s reputation and its beers have gradually grown throughout the local region. Clearwater Brewery relocated in 2014 where it now sits nestled in the hillside overlooking the maritime town of Bideford, North Devon.

Bottle. A gift from Totnes. The person not the place. Clear pale amber. Noisy white foam. Smells of almost nothing at all. Some sour grain at a push. Taste has a hint of bitterness over a saccharine like sweetness. Thin body. Lively carbonation. Jesus.

Bottle, from historic notes. Bought at a Premier store in Exeter whilst on holiday in Devon. Poured chestnut brown with an average size off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, nut and light fruit. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Was ok.

500ml bottle from a shop in Devon somewhere. Pours clear mahogany, thin off white head. Aroma has very distant caramel. Very light carbonation, light caramel, light bitterness, fairly bland verging on watery, distant nutty shades. Quite poor.

Cask @ Nightjar, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a head. It's a sessionable ale with a fuller tasting hop, and fairly crisp.
