Fra fad på Tap1, mai-14: ble utskjenket kun fredag, og heldigvis fikk jeg med meg både denne og Saison Øland. En av festivalens mest minneverdige høydepunkter, og dette fra et bitte lite og ukjent bryggeri! Birkestout er kullsort og har et flott cremet skum som smaker lekkert. Aroma i lange baner med alle de klassiske og beste imp.stout-kjennetegn: mørk sjokolade, kvalitetskaffe, fruktige humler og fet maltkropp. Lakris og vanilje. Perfekt balansert bitterhet og det hele er bare fyldig og so smooth... De 70 IBU merkes ikke, og alkoholen ligger bare diskret i bakgrunnen. en nytelse fra første til siste dråpe.

Fra fad på Tap1, mai-14: ble utskjenket kun fredag, og heldigvis fikk jeg med meg dette. En imponerende god saison med mange interessante aspekter. Lett uklar gylden med middels skum. Deilig duft av sommerferie, dicerse citrus, litt krydder og hjemmebakt surdeigsbrød. Humlen er fint til stede, og dette er i det hele tatt et fantastisk balansert og komplekst øl med personlighet. Og servert av den særdeles hyggelige, unge bryggeren.

Sample from tap, CBF 2014. Hazy, golden colour with a small, white head. Fruity aroma with floral hops, spices, yeasts, hay and a pepper note. Taste is sweet. Medium body with a soft carbonation. Finishes drying and fruity with spicy pepper notes. Nice.

Sample from tap, CBF 2014. Pitch black with a big, creamy tanned head. Roasted aroma with coffee, chocolate, rich malts, herbal hops, subtle whisky notes. Liquorice and fruits. Taste is bitter. Perfect palate for a Stout: Full body with a velvet-like texture and a soft carbonation. Excellent. Long lasting bitter finish with roasted malts, dark chocolate and coffee. A job well done!

Draught @ Fermentoren, Århus. Pours pitch black with a creamy light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, oak, light whisky notes. Flavor is rich malts, coffee, caramel, dark chocolate, licorcie, oak, whiskey. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, light warming alcohol. Very nice beer, looking forward to more. 140514

200ml on tap at Fermentoren, shared with Skinnyviking. Solid lacing from a firm and lasting brownish head. Deep, jet black body colour. Rich roasted dark malty nose, semi-sweet. Taste of grainy chocolate, nuts, syrup, and coffee. Roasted bitterness to a lingering finish. Hidden alcohol. Full bodied. Velvety on the swallow. Well-made with great sipper qualities (Copenhagen 03.05.2014).

Draught @ Fermentoren, Aarhus. Pours cloudy very dark brown with small tan head. Clear aroma of malt, with notes of coffee and barrels. Sweetish flavour of malt, with notes of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Bitter, roasty aftertaste, with subtle, sweetish notes. Good.
