Description
Castle Brewery, a small batch brewery based in the ancient town of Lostwithiel by the banks of the River Fowey. High tech 'all in one' brewing of traditional ales.

Our philosophy is to brew the tastiest beers with the finest ingredients, sourced locally, where possible. The beers are made using the latest technology enabling consistent brewing on a small scale. This also allows us to brew some less mainstream beers. To make them ‘all inclusive’ they are unfined and naturally hazy, making them suitable for vegetarians/vegans. Recycling and re-using is also important to us, as we are a small microbrewery.

Bottle at Richmondo, big thanks to Dirty Danny. It pours clear rich deep Amber with no head whatsoever. The nose is earthy, musty, dirty, leather, butterscotch, toffee, stewed orange, vegetables, gummy bears and over - ripe fruit. The taste is tangy orange, tangerine, candy, sticky, gooseberry, earth, gummy bears, with a short finish. Medium- full body and slick mouth - feel. I doubt it would do you harm in the short term, but in the long term maybe.

Bottle shared in Richmond - many thanks to Daniel. Vintage 2012. Pours clear, rich gold with a slight, creamy white head. Interesting aroma, some rich bread, ripe citrus, earth, orange, faint metal, grains. Medium sweet flavor, lightly musty, with tangy berries, some farts, very slight acetic notes, sugary bread. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming in the finish, with further tart fruits, hints of vinegar, bread, earth, leather. Quite novel stuff, but just a little rough.

Bottle drank on hols in St Ives. Clear amber beer with a small off white head. Smooth dry palate with very modest carbonation. Sweetish caramel. Brandy like alcohol provides an evaporating dryness. Touch of dried fruits. Dry and slightly gum numbing finish. It passes muster but is clunky.
