Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a small foamybalmost white head and good lacing. The aroma has malts and berry fruits. In the mouth it is sweet and smooth with a creamy texture, but a little underlying bitterness. Flavour has floral hops and biscuits with hints of corn and tangerine. Bitterness is more pronounced in the slightly dry finish. It’s reasonable – but not particularly exciting.

Handpull cask at the Two-Tailed Lion. Reddish amber, clear with a smallkhaki head. Malty aroma with light caramel notes in the aroma. I'm trying to find any 'breakfast' notes... maybe a hint of coffee and maple syrup, or am I imagining this? Sweet taste, again very malty with a string bittering hops at the end of the sip. Nicely bitter finish. An elegant ESB.

Cask at The Wellington, Brum. Aroma is fruity. Slightly resinous. A veg soup undertow. Clear gold. Thin foamy translucent white head develops a bald spot. Light-medium bitter. Resin/quinine. Followed by spicy marmalade citrus and other fruit. A powdery breakfast cereal element appears into the finish. Medium bodied. Oily. Flat carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Odd stuff. Like a collision between a US IPA and a golden ale. Confused (me).

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a golden orange with a small off-white head and good lacing. The aroma has malts and nuts with a hint of citrus. In the mouth bitter hoppiness is predominant with a creamy texture, and some orange flavour. Hints too of ginger and spice, leading to a bitter and slightly dry finish. This is decent. Although it calls itself an APA, I would say it is more in the region of an IPa or ISA or even a Premium Bitter. It certainly isn’t pale !
