Description
The address is HQ and not the brewery.

Story of The Booth Brewing Co.(“The Booth”) began in May 2013 as a small pub in an alleyway off of Gyeonglidan, founded by Korean medicine doctor Heeyoon Kim, financial analyst Sunghoo Yang and The Economist correspondent Daniel Tudor. The three friends had a simple philosophy: find your fun and be the best at it. And that fun was beer.

Fast-forward to today, we became the first Asian brewery to take charge into the world’s largest craft beer market. Our mix of fun-based philosophy, unique artwork, and fresh Humboldt-made beer has started to excite many Californians, as well as the tastebuds of many beer judges.

Since then, we have been breaking industry boundaries: from hosting the largest craft beer festival in Korea to pioneering 100% cold-chain distribution to launching Mikkeller-collaborated Tae(dong)gang Pale Ale, a challenge to North Korea’s national beer. We collaborate with artists, musicians, and diverse brands that share a similar passion for fun, across all industries including sports, fashion, coffee, and arts. We also created Korea's first and only pro-LGBT beer last year, a part of Seoul Pride Film Festival.

1/11/2024. Draft at The Booth Gyunglidan, Seoul. Pours clear deep golden amber with a small frothy white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, old hops, orange, resin, stewed tropical fruit. Moderate sweetness, bitterness and body. Average carbonation. Has quite a distinct KABREW influence from other beers of theirs I’ve tried. A bit so so.

[33cl can from Beer52, brewed in the EU.] A hazy pale amber pour with a scattered cream head; citrus aroma; grapefruit taste with some pineapple and tropical fruit salad; but rather thin and lacking finish. Good in parts.

330ml can via beer52: Brewed and canned in the EU, so not really from South Korea is it! No mention of KABREW either, but there is some Zinc Sulphate in it. BB 8th November 2024. Anyway I drank it at home on 14th January with myself. Hazy old gold colour, white crown. Thought it had a strange tea like flavour with a touch of grassy, floral fruitiness, all a bit weird.

Can from Beer52. Ur pours hazy golden yellow with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, grassy, floral, stone fruits, apricot jam, peach and nectarine. The taste is firmly dry, bitter, floral, pithy citrus, bitter orange peel, grassy, floury bread, flinty and peppery spice with a drying finish. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Decent enough pale ale. Drinks well.

Foamy white head on a hazy amber coloured body. Juicy stone fruit & hopped up aroma. Medium bodied, soft with a sharp back. Stone fruit, marmalade, pithy, citrus & bitter hop tastes with a peppery finish. That's very nice. Tastes like a Stone or Brewdog beer.

On tap at The Booth Itaewon, pours a lightly hazy full golden with a medium white head. Aroma has a dank, herbal hop character, with a subtle biscuity malt base. Flavour has a strange hop profile that seems a bit sweaty, somewhat dank, and herbal. Ugh, that's not a nice hop expression. Poor.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar - Seoul, pours a red-tinged black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out dry cocoa, medium roast and some bitter burnt notes. Flavour is a bit thin, with dry cocoa, a touch of cracked black pepper and medium roast. Not the most full-bodied impie stout by any means, but clean and quite drinkable. Good.
