Bottle in Meldrum. Gusher! It pours clear mahogany brown with a decent white head. The aroma is rich, spicy, brown bread, dried fruits, toasty brown sugars, raisin, cereal, rivita and wood. The taste is pretty dry, bitter, spicy, brown bread, rye cracker, rivita, earth, booze, tannin, varnish, dried fruits with a drying and peppery finish. Medium body and average carbonation. A bit too dry and spicy. Fair.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 28 Oct 2017, thanks jookos, 20170313) The beer poured hazy and nearly black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had caramel, molasses, coffee and burnt malts. Palate was surprisingly light bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, coffee, molasses and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A brew with good aroma but disappointing taste.

Bottle at Ugiebank. It pours clear deep amber with a decent white head. The is soft, sweet, fruity, mellow banana, slightly creamy, spice, ginger and bread. The taste is dry, malt - driven, pretty spicy, peppery, clove, ginger, rye bread, earth, leather, touch of pine and green banana with a dry, spicy finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Doesn’t quite live up to the quirky description. Ok.

Bottle at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - deep amber to red. Nice fluffy head. Nose - rum and raisins. Taste - burnt raisins and burnt bread generally. Palate - medium to full bodied with a rich sweet but crunchy middle section. The finish is reassuringly bitter, almost astringent in fact. Overall - I really liked this. A bit of a challenge in places but worth taking the challenge on.
