Description
Old Worthy Brewery is the project of Nick Ravenhall on the Isle of Skye which started in 2012. The label's name comes from 'local worthies', Islay distillery men legendary for their hard work and their production of fine Islay single malt whiskies. Beers were initially brewed under contract by Isle of Skye but have mostly been brewed at Broughton.

Canned. Clear amber, mid sized head. Fruity nose with some kiwi fruit. Mid sweet with light-medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Bready and peppery, some white currant. Long bitter finish. Refreshing.

Bottled. Clear copper colour, small head. Buttery nose with rhum and caramel. Sweet with medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Caramel, bread and rhum dominates. Peppery bitter finish. Interesting.

Opaque dark brown colour, tall frothy tan head, receding slowly, thin layer remains, heavy lacing. Aroma roasted malts, cocoa, licorice, caramel. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, chocolate, light toffee, spicy notes. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation, sweetbitter aftertaste, spicy notes, burned touch, bit on the thin side but pleasant.

Bottle shared on Level 42 26/07/2017. Many thanks to Scopey for this one. A clear amber copper coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is woody coffee, green pepper, ashy campfire, green. Flavour is composed of semi sweet toasted malts, amber malt, earthy coffee, bark, woody nutty malts. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation, frothy. Decent coffee character.
